She is a connector and encourager, while recognizing the trepidation and intensity of new educational ventures, Learners are encouraged to bring into conversation their own experiences, their strengths and their questions. By being real, vulnerable, humorous and curious herself, Sarah creates a space of embracing the diversity and interests of learners while seeking to attune to the each person within the shared environment and value their contributions. Sarah’s trainings normalize tough discussions around topics like: Informed-consent & informed-refusal, professional sustainability & creating a self-care model of work, Perinatal Mental Health and the learners visibility, access & experiences within the prenatal through early parenting periods. Sarah’s commitment to maternal and child wellbeing includes supporting Doulas with active listening, being a resource, and sharing confidence and belief in their professional success.

Sarah trained me on the Postpartum Doula team at Swedish Hospital. She is a very caring and patient teacher and encourages her students to lead with their strengths. I really appreciate her support throughout the process and her mentorship even beyond training. She gave plenty of space to debrief and ask questions and was very hands on!

I enjoyed learning with Sarah very much. She had a lot of experience to share with our class that I have found invaluable in my journey to becoming a doula. She supported all of my many questions and went over the lessons in a way that I found easy to understand. I recommend her as a doula teacher.
