Privacy Policy (updated January 12, 2020)

Your privacy is important to us. At the KPEC Group and DoulaMatch.net we have a few fundamental principles:

  • We avoid collection of any information not required to operate this website. We take measures to avoid integration and dependency on third party tracking software and services.
  • We do not share your personal information with anyone except to comply with the law or protect our rights.
  • We do not store personal information on our servers unless required for the on-going operation of one of our services.

For expectant families using our site to find a doula, we collect nothing other than usual and normal website operational logs of your useage. No registration required, have at it.

What Does DoulaMatch.net Collect

In a nutshell, nothing you wouldn't expect.

Of course we collect the information displayed publicly on the site, we won't enumerate all of those fields. We take pains to ensure truly personal information such as your email address is never leaked or displayed on the site. If you put your phone number on your profile (optional!) or link to your website and your website has your email address on it, that is your affair and responsibility.

We don't collect any payment information. To comply with PCI privacy regulations, we take pains to use payment processors with technology where no person or software from DoulaMatch ever sees your credit card information.

About your email address

Registered users including doulas, group profile managers, and advertisers register using their email address. We never share, publish, or otherwise divulge your email address. If somebody got it, they did not get it from us.

We have a contact form where anyone on the internet can send a doula an inquiry email through our services. This email will come from DoulaMatch to the doula. The potential client will never receive your email address from us. What you do with the email when you (the doula) receive it is up to you, including responding to the client and thereby sharing your email address with them. Doulas need to take care in responding to these as there is little we can do to prevent illegitimate requests. There are people we wish we could prevent from using the form who do so only wishing to exploit doulas, so please be discerning before replying. We actively monitor usage of the contact form for patterns of abuse and take measures to block future use.

As a relatively minor operation on the internet, simply getting our email delivered to you is no small task. Behind the scenes we use Amazon's Simple Email Service to send email, partly because they are trusted by all email service providers and hence enjoy a great record for deliverability. They also take a very dim view of spam complaints and repeated attempts to email invalid addresses, so when they let us know about it a problem with your email address, we immediately block it from further use. If this happens, you will see a notification when you log in and have the opportunity to fix it by changing your email address, which will remove the block.

Third Party Technology

In our latest release we actively removed all third party software dependencies which had the potential to compromise your privacy in some way, even if only theoretical.

We removed Google Maps and Google ReCaptcha from our site, as well as all use of third party content distribution networks for common files we rely on such as jQuery and Bootstrap CSS and javascript.

We also eliminated the use of Gravatar profile images on testimonials. Few people had them, and it was a privacy leak.

We also removed our previous Facebook profile page integration. Shortly after we made this available, Facebook changed their policy such that a doula would need a minimum of 2,000 "Likes" on their page before they could add a custom page tab. That pretty much killed this feature for any new use. Sorry to those few who were still able to use it!

Our payment processing partners' technology integration with our website is architected such that at no point in time is DoulaMatch able to see your payment information. We don't want the responsibility, so we make sure we have zero exposure in this area. Of course, the payment partner collects and may store this information as is normal in the course of electronic payment processing.

Cookies and Local Storage

We send you a few cookies to enhance your experience. No pixel trackers, or trackers of any kind. These cookies are straightforward. One stores your doula search parameters such as due date and ZIP code so we can re-load them when you visit the search page in the future. The other cookies are only used when logging into an account on the site and keep track of your session while logged in. They are deleted when you log out. There is also a cookie called "__RequestVerificationToken" which is generated to help validate any forms you complete on the site.

If your browser supports it, and most do, we store your doula search results in your browser's local storage. When moving page to page in your search results, we re-load from local storage when available to give you snappier performance. Performing a new search deletes the prior data in local storage.
