Post a testimonial for Rebecca Belenky CD(DONA), CLEC, CBE

We feel so blessed to have crossed paths with Rebecca Belenky. We had our first conversations in the 2nd trimester, and Rebecca brought a serenity and sensitivity that immediately put us at ease. During labor, she was an integral part of our home birth team, and provided support for both me and my partner. And we’ll never forget Rebecca’s postpartum care, which gave us knowledge and perspective that helped offset the most bewildering aspects of new parenthood. Through it all, she was compassionate, patient, gentle, and nurturing. We feel so grateful to have had her with us during this transformation.

Rebecca was our birth doula for 2 of our 3 births and she is absolutely fantastic!! She will always hold a special place in my heart because of how supportive, calm, giving and empathetic she is as a person but especially during labor as well as throughout our prenatal and postpartum visits.
It’s hard to put into words how big of a difference having her help and support for labor made compared to our first birth.
Just even her presence, knowing she was there, was incredibly comforting and helped me reaffirm to myself that I could do this and that it would be ok. We talked a lot prenatally about how she could help during labor and Rebecca really came through, always providing cold towels for my forehead and constantly massaging my temples and head, shifting to low back pressure during contractions, pouring warm water over my back in the bathtub to help relax and calm me… she worked continuously without pause to keep me as comfortable as possible during active labor and when the pain and discomfort was too much I had to complain she agreed with me and made me feel heard and acknowledged and that I could get through it.
Rebecca is also a fantastic cook and made really yummy nourishing meals postpartum for us that we were able to freeze and enjoy over a few weeks after our babies arrived. It was really helpful and felt like the equivalent of a hug from her.
I would describe Rebecca as incredibly calm and grounding, a great listener and very empathetic and also good at anticipating your needs in labor. She is also very knowledgeable and has a great network of colleagues and resources to support you and baby prenatally and postpartum.
If you are looking for someone with a quiet but strong and calm presence to support you and your birth experience, Rebecca is it :)

When we first met Rebecca, we knew we wanted her warm, calming energy around us when we welcomed our daughter. Rebecca was so helpful during my pregnancy, guiding us on how to plan for the birth and things that came up along the way as we got closer to my due date. Her knowledge and experience is invaluable, especially as we navigated all the uncertainties brought on by the pandemic. During my labor, Rebecca was an amazing support to both me and my husband. She worked really collaboratively with the nursing staff throughout my time in L&D. We were lucky enough to work with Rebecca again with my second child. Even as second time parents, we both learned so much from Rebecca as we planned for the birth. She helped me to really hone in on some coping techniques and I was able to have the unmedicated labor I was hoping for. Rebecca was a wealth of knowledge, resources, and support in the early postpartum days as well. Her caring presence feels like a warm hug. Any family would be lucky to have her as their doula!

Rebecca is a quiet, calming force of nature. My wife and I were extremely grateful to have her doula for the birth of both our children, each under unique circumstances. As a partner, you want to be as supportive as possible, and having such a thoughtful guide like Rebecca made it so much easier to focus on being present for the emotional needs of my wife. For our first child, Rebecca steered my wife through an unmedicated birth, all during Covid, at a time of heightened stress for mothers and healthcare professionals alike. Looking back, I can’t imagine not having her there.
Rebecca is extremely emotionally intuitive. During my wife’s second birth, she was able to gently push back when an extremely well-meaning nurse was hurrying my wife to deliver a little more quickly than was perhaps necessary. I know it sounds extreme, but I feel like in the tense setting of a delivery room, this was one of the greatest acts of diplomacy I’ve ever witnessed. I don’t know that, in the stress of the moment, I would have been able to so calmly advocate for my wife in such a tactful manner. And that’s exactly what you get working with Rebecca—a thoughtful, experienced, steady hand to guide you through the incredible process.

Rebecca is simply the best! I am grateful to have had her as my doula for the births of both my children. When I was pregnant with my first during the height of Covid, Rebecca provided me the knowledge, support, and warmth I desperately needed during a very challenging time. It felt so daunting to have a baby and I felt unsure of myself and scared of how labor would be. Although I was getting excellent care from my OB and medical team, I still felt a desire for someone who understood all the intricacies of pregnancy and labor and could support my emotional needs in a greater capacity.
Rebecca understood my anxieties and approached all my wishes and concerns with great empathy and non-judgment. She guided me through the pains of labor with the most amazing calming presence I’ve ever witnessed in a person—it was truly magical how she put me at ease. She knew exactly what to say and how to encourage me. I came out on the other side feeling empowered, confident, and happy. I don’t think I would have had such a positive experience if it weren’t for her. Four years later, I’m pregnant for the second time and knew I wanted Rebecca at my side again. I am glad to have her be a part of both my birth stories!

Multiple times throughout my pregnancy and postpartum period, my partner and I turned to each other to say -- "I am so grateful for Rebecca." Some highlights: Rebecca walking us through a creative card game she created to demystify the non-linear experience of labor; her stepping in with a well-timed question for the nurse to slow things down and let me catch my breath; her giving me the most delicious slice of clementine in the quiet moments after my baby arrived; her cooking us a warm meal in our home once we'd settled back in. We felt genuinely accompanied throughout our whole experience.

Rebecca is the best and I’m so, so grateful I found her! She knows so much and thinks of little details, but managed to never overwhelm me or my husband. I went from feeling worried and lost to feeling confident and excited. She was a calm, grounding voice during my delivery and truly saved me during the rough early postpartum months. You won’t find a better doula. Can’t wait to work with her again!

Rebecca was a wonderful doula to our first child. She helped my wife (and myself) feel safe and informed throughout the process, and really took our wishes as parents into account - tailor-making our journey in the most supportive way possible. I can't imagine us doing this without Rebecca by our side.

We are team Rebecca through and through! We did a thourough interview search when we were on our doula hunt, and when we met Rebecca we knew she was the perfect fit for us. She has the most calming, confident, present, and nurturing energy about her. I knew I wanted to try for an unmedicated labor, so having someone whom my partner and I both trusted and connected with was very important to us. She was equally supportive to my partner throughout or labor journey which was so comforting for me. We had such a beautiful, unmedicated birthing experience with her for our first baby, that we didn't think twice when it came to having her by our side for our second baby, two years later. We love, love, love you Rebecca!

The best gift I gave myself in my birth was hiring Rebecca as my postpartum doula. Rebecca provided me with so much emotional support. She answered my endless questions as a first time parent and helped instill in me a sense of confidence in my own intuition. She helped me process this radical change of becoming a parent and my birth experience. We had such meaningful and fulfilling conversations during this tender time. I cannot imagine a better person than Rebecca to have in your corner in the birthing process. She has a gift for this important work.

I had an incredible experience having Rebecca as my doula for the birth of my son! Before working with her, I didn’t know much about the birthing process, but Rebecca’s guidance changed everything. In our three prenatal sessions, she explained what happens physically during birth, possible scenarios, and what to expect postpartum. This education gave me confidence and helped me feel empowered to make decisions aligned with my values.
When labor began, Rebecca supported me from the very start—checking in over the phone, helping me understand where I was in the process, and guiding me through what might be most helpful. Once we arrived at Cedars, I cannot overstate the relief of having her there. She was calm, intelligent, and informed—someone I could trust to help me navigate decisions and stay grounded in such an intense moment. Talking through questions with her always reassured me.
Beyond her knowledge and advocacy, Rebecca also has a gift for honoring the beauty of the experience. She took meaningful photos of my son’s birth and our first moments together—memories I’ll cherish forever.
Her support continued postpartum, when her warmth, wisdom, and listening ear helped me feel truly seen in my transition to motherhood. She shared valuable resources, soothed my anxieties, and reminded me I wasn’t alone.
Rebecca is kind, professional, grounded, and genuine. She makes you feel safe, supported, and heard. I couldn’t recommend her more highly, and I’ve already asked her to be my doula for my next baby!

I hired Rebecca early on in my pregnancy. After speaking with and meeting Rebecca, I knew she was exactly what I needed. Rebecca's energy instantly fills you with a sense of calm and positivity. I said to my partner after I first met her that she is like an all natural anti-anxiety pill. Not only did she help calm my first-time-mom nerves throughout all of my pregnancy and postpartum, she is extremely knowledgeable and comes armed with valuable information about the birthing process, breastfeeding, and adjusting to life with a newborn. During my labor, she intuitively knew what to do and say to help me stay focused, and how to touch me gently in ways to make me more comfortable. My partner also repeatedly commented on how grateful she was for Rebecca's presence to help support her as well. And as if all of that wasn't enough, Rebecca has continued to check-in with me postpartum to offer much needed support and guidance. Overall, she is a dream doula (and human). It's a privilege to have her in our lives as we journeyed into motherhood - and beyond. You would not regret hiring Rebecca for one minute!

My husband and I were very apprehensive about whether or not we needed a doula for the birth of our first child. We wanted the birthing experience to be a reflection of us, and for it to be an intimate experience to be shared among only ourselves. We didn't even want our family present. However, we realized three weeks before our due date that we couldn't handle everything on our own. I had wanted a natural, drug-free birth and knew that we would need someone to assist my husband in managing my pain through alternative methods. I contacted a few different doulas, but Rebecca stood out in her prompt, thorough and organized responses (she reminded me of myself and how I run my personal business). We wanted to make a decision quickly since we were so close to my due date, so we scheduled a call with Rebecca and she immediately made us feel at ease. We knew right away that we were a perfect match.
Was it worth it to hire a doula in the end? Yes, worth every single penny. We could not have made it through without Rebecca. The birth happened quickly and was painful, but we made it through with Rebecca. I still remember the little things she would do that my husband would not have thought of - tying back my hair and bangs so that they wouldn't bother me, stroking me while the doctor and midwife stitched me up after the birth, and talking me through as the initial recovery became more complicated. She was able to help my son latch on during the golden hour when the other nurses couldn't.
We never felt like Rebecca was intruding on the experience between my husband and our new son, she was a necessary asset. We wholeheartedly recommend Rebecca to anyone looking for a doula to help them achieve through this life changing experience.

Rebecca was great. She was what we needed - someone knowledgeable and calming during the chaos of labor. She provided a steady peaceful presence with her coaching and support. She was very patient with us and took charge when we needed her to. She is great at communicating with her us via phone calls and emails and was ready to answer any questions we had. She was punctual and a great listener during our pre-birth meetings. We highly recommend Rebecca.

Rebecca is a thorough, conscientious, sweet and wonderful human being who is full of grace and has a great sense of humor. She is passionate about babies and birthing and is a font of knowledge that belies her youthful presence. It was a great comfort to me that she is also a mother and could relate directly to the experience of birthing and the post partum process.
As my doula, Rebecca was a grounding source of suppor for my 2nd baby. I had prodromal labor (that was progressing my dilation) for weeks, that for whatever reason didn't seem 'to catch.' She patiently calmed me through it, checking in periodically to see how I was doing and letting me do most of the checking in so as to alleviate the "when is baby coming' pressure I was feeling from everyone else in the world including myself! We even went to the hospital one evening when the contractions got close together, but ended up getting sent home. While the nurse was somewhat condescending (as if I don't know what labor pains feel like) and made me feel like an idiot, Rebecca was lovely and continued to remind me that I was in fact knowledgeable about my body and the process, and that I was doing all the right things and that I was following my Dr's orders of going to the hospital sooner rather than later.) Rebecca's style of offering advice, is truly to offer up information and she never suggests anything with 'shoulds' -- which I really appreciated. She also helped me find a knowledgeable accupuncturist (who was also midwife).
When labor finally occurred it was SUPER speedy (2hrs) and Rebecca's presence was exactly what I needed. She was jovial when I needed so that I could remain present and connected; and quiet/ calm/ serene when the process required my concentration. During the more intense parts of my labor, Rebecca worked seamlessly with the hospital staff and was literally hands-on, providing massage and verbal support.

Rebecca was a great Doula. I delivered at Glendale Adventist Hospital, in my opinion not a very Doula friendly hospital but Rebecca was very reassuring throughout my labor, had she not been there to support me and my husband I think things would have turned out very differently for me. Thanks Rebecca.
