Hiring a doula, specifically Blythe, was the best decision I made! I knew nothing about pregnancy or what to expect with labor. I was extremely nervous and anxious and fearful. Mostly fear of the unknown.
While pregnant, I learned more about doctors, midwives and doulas (not knowing the difference at all!). At 30 weeks pregnant I decided to switch to a midwife and hire a doula!! It was a scary decision being so far along, but it was the best decision I could have made.

After searching for doulas in my area and interviewing a few over zoom, I knew immediately when our call ended that Blythe was the one. She seemed to get exactly what I was looking for.
The greatest part of having Blythe now a part of my team was alleviating all of my stress and anxiety. Even after just one meeting, I felt so much better already, now turning into excitement. My husband was also more comfortable and ready for what was to come. We talked about our expectations and wants and what we didn’t want. Blythe’s objective was to give us our dream birth experience.

Finally the day came (a week past due!) and Blythe came over at 5am, thinking we would be heading to the hospital in a few hours. 12 hours later (and many positions and techniques later!) we decided to all take a break and get some rest. During this rest is when i decided to head to hospital and called Blythe to meet me there. I was admitted, spent some time in the tub (highly recommend!) and the following morning it was finally time to push! During labor, having both Blythe and my husband there was perfect. They each had their roles and we had a wonderful experience.

Blythe’s constant encouragement and motivation was exactly what I needed and she knew exactly what to say to get me through that moment. If you are debating about hiring a doula, do it 100%. And don’t hire just anyone, hire Blythe! She will make sure you have a wonderful experience exactly as you want it.

Blythe is an amazing Doula. She was our Doula for both of our births. One was a water birth in a hospital, the other was a water birth at home with a midwife. Both experiences with her were amazing. She also performed our placenta encapsulation and tinture both times. I would highly recommend this!!! She helped us enjoy the process, versus dreading the pain everyone convinces you it will be. It was not. I had a wonderful labor and delivery; completely natural. I would receommend a doula if this is the way you would like to bring your child into the world as well.

Blythe was with me for my first birth experience. She came as soon as contractions were starting and met us at the hospital, even left her family party and stayed until after we were all settled after having the baby which I had at 2am!
she aided me in turning the baby from "sunny side up" to the correct position using certain movements/ positions during contractions. She always need which spot to have my husband apply pressure and massage. We were very thankful for her expertise and how she was kind and confident!   Would highly recommend her!

Blythe is phenomenal! We hired her as our doula for both of our children’s births. She is a very kind and genuine person. I enjoyed each and every prenatal visit with her and her presence during birth. She is extremely knowledgeable and had so much more to offer than I expected! It was a real pleasure working with her. <3

Blythe! We can't thank you enough! Words can't express how you have helped our family through such a sensitive time. You are the perfect advocate anyone can ask for. You are very talented, knowledgeable, and tender-hearted. Both our pregnancies and deliveries have been a walk in the park with you holding our hands. I swear you have twenty arms and can efficiently multitask as needed. The experience leading up to my 40 weeks was educational and smooth. The delivery experience itself was just incredible!! You made me feel safe, comfortable, prepared, and loved. I was at a point in my life where I was scared to have babies, but with you I could have as many as I could be blessed with. Highly recommend! Thank you thank you.

Blythe was absolutely AMAZING!!! In fact, my daughter is almost 2 and I never got around to writing this review until now, but I wanted to make sure I finally did it. I had an incredibly long labor (over 40 hours). Blythe came to my house in the evening around hour 24 and helped me labor at home for as long as I was comfortable. She then came to the hospital with us and stayed up all night helping my husband and me until my daughter was finally born at 10am. I have no idea how she did it; she must have been exhausted, but it was so invaluable to us. She helped me advocate for myself and my birth plan, and also helped explain what my options were when certain medical interventions were offered. She gave me many great suggestions, but also respected my own wishes and decisions without any judgement. Also, being my first pregnancy, all of the prep work and meetings leading up to labor & delivery were fabulous. I cannot recommed her enough!!

Blythe was an absolute pleasure to work with. We chose her to doula for us at our attempted VBAC. I was very impressed with her holistic knowledge and her stress on good prenatal care. She was prompt with her communication and thoroughly answered all questions I had. My labor got off to a bit of a rocky start. I must have called her two dozen between my water breaking and labor starting. She helped me remain calm and focused on the big picture. When we finally called her to our side, she arrived quickly and instantly eased our minds. She was such a calm and loving presence! She talked me through every decision and made sure all of our choices were informed. I ultimately had a c-section, but was and remain absolutely confident in my decision. She was able to remain with us in the OR. It was a beautiful experience and i'm so glad she was there to contribute to it! I'm pleased that we still remain in contact today. I will absolutely use Blythe again if we decide to have another baby. I highly recommend her!

Blythe is a great doula, I would highly recommend her to anyone. Blythe helped me achieve the natural birth that I wanted. Blythe truly has a gift for helping laboring mothers.

My husband called Blythe when my water broke and she came right to our home and helped me through my labor until we felt I was ready to go to the hospital. Once at the hospital she continued to be a major support for us. She knew many different birthing positions to help move my beautiful baby down and dilate me faster. Blythe was not only a support for me but also for my husband, she showed him ways he could help ease my discomforts. If it was not for Blythe and all of her support I really don't think I would have achieved the birth I wanted.

Blythe takes her calling very seriously, she is extremely professional and disaplined. Before attending my birth she was up all night supporting another laboring mother at the same hospital. The fact that she was up the entire night before did not stop her from being there for my husband and I when we needed her. This was our first birth and she knew how important it was for my husband and I to stick to our birth plan and that's exactly what she helped us achieve. I can not say enough great things about her. I am so glad my husband and I chose Blythe to share in the best day of our lives so far.

Blythe was excellent! I really appreciated how open and approachable she was through the entire process. I'm always nervous about meeting new people and she put me at ease immediately. She helped me through anxiety and fears that arose from my pregnancy and mental health issues. Blythe also helped me write my birth plan, figure out what I wanted, and questions to ask my midwife.  She's very informative (loved her library!) but was willing to go with how much or little "granola" I wanted in my care. I loved that she was always available for first time mommy "Is this normal?!" questions and that she would periodically check up on me just to see how I was doing. She's definitely all for mothering the mother.  Blythe also kept my husband involved and occasionally would give him homework, things to work on so that he could better help me during labor.  Blythe encapsulated my placenta, which was returned to me very professionally and with the umbillical cord dried in the shape of a heart, which I treasure.  Unfortunately, due to my little one wanting to be carried extra long, Blythe was unavailble to attend the birth on the date I was induced, much to our dismay as she, my husband, and I had been looking forward to it.  However, Blythe had prepared for that, and made sure that I had an equally qualified and trusted doula available for my birth.  Even though we didn't actually get to use Blythe for our birth, we deeply enjoyed her services, and look forward to employing her next time.  She really is a joy to work with.

Blythe was such a great support for both my husband and myself. Being first time parents, we didn't know what to expect with the labor, delivery, and also pregnancy. Blythe was a great support not only for me, but also for my husband. She helped him help me. She knew what I needed without me having to ask for it, which is great when you are having a large contraction and really can't speak but need some water or other substinence to help you. She was always at our disposal during the pregnancy and I always was able to contact her if I had a question or concern. Blythe is very educated and informed on a lot of alternative homeopathic natural methods for pregnancy and labor/child birth. I loved the vitamin testing she performed on me while pregnant. Helped me know which vitamin(s) I was defiecient in so I could supplement those and be at my healthiest while pregnant. She has a large access of literature for her clients if you need more research on vaccinations, circumcision, natural childbirth, breast feeding, etc. She helped us with our birthplan so when it came time for labor and birth our wishes were upheld at the birthing center with the other medical staff. We had a natural water birth, and it truely was a wonderful experience for myself as well as my husband. Blythe is very experienced in water and natural births as well as non natural births and more conventional births. She is very diverse and can help facilitate any type of pregnancy/labor/birth go smoothly. Blythe also encapsulated my placenta for me into vitamin form. I recommend this to all of  her clients. Really helps with hormones, energy, milk production, protein for me, etc. The capsules do not have a smell or taste, and I take them with my other vitamins. She also provided us with exercises we could do while I was pregnant for pelvic stretching, back lengthning, as well as helping fetus drop into ideal position making delivery easier. Most importantly, she provides peace of mind

Blythe was an absolute Godsend for us! The amount of knowledge and support we received from her are things everyone needs during pregnancy and labor. I don't think I would've been able to pull off my natural birthing experience without her!  Definitely give her a call; you'll be glad you did!!!

We LOVE Blythe!! I almost want to have another baby quicker, so we can spend time with her!! I came into the game late, and started searching for a doula about 1 month before my due date. Blythe was great and made the effor to travel to me for our initial meetings. She answered all of my and my husband's questions and make us feel very 'in control' of our birthing experience.

During labor/delivery she was calm and very helpful when it came to making decisions due to a complicated labor. I am 100% certain that had Blythe NOT been with us, that my midwife would have been suggesting a C-Section, or medical intervention.

I would HIGHLY reccomended Blythe, and look forward to using her again with Baby #2!!

My husband and I couldn’t have been happier with our decision to hire Blythe as our doula for the homebirth of our first child. Blythe offers so much more to her clients than a "typical" doula.

I was very impressed by her use of muscle testing and her knowledge of homepathic remedies and essential oils. She was extremely thorough during prenatal appointments and available to answer any questions in between.

During our homebirth, she was supportive both physically (by administering herbal remedies, offering food/drink, helping with the birth pool, etc.) and emotionally (by being fully and lovingly present, offering encouraging words, etc.).

I would highly recommend hiring Blythe Hughes for your upcoming birth and beyond!

Health, happiness... XOXO!

I was initially on the fence about paying a doula. Then acquaintances convinced me that a quality doula is priceless and worth so much more than the modest fees they charge. I interviewed two doulas. Blythe was very enthusiastically recommended to me by a mom she had recently served.

As soon as I met with Blythe, I knew I wanted her to be with my husband and me during our son's birth. I could tell right away that she was someone I would want to for a friend, and it's so important to have a doula who clicks with you. Blythe is professional, but in the most comfortable, personal way. She's a beautiful soul and fit perfectly with the peaceful, relaxed natural birth we wanted. All the services she's capable of are optional- she offered many choices and happily customized her service to include the aspects that we liked. Once I hired her, she was always there if I wanted to call, text or email about anything. When I was a week and a half overdue, she gave me a reflexology session and I went into labor that night.

Blythe met us at my friend's house where we spent early labor because of its proximity to the hospital where I was delivering. This was my first baby and she helped confirm that I was in active labor, explained things as they happened and gave me an idea of what to expect. She helped me decide when to go to the hospital and it was perfect - less than three hours at the hospital and my son was born. She questioned the nurses for me when they wanted to keep me on my back. Blythe did a great job of being there when we needed her and fading into the background when my husband and I were having our moments together. The three of us were an excellent team and I'm so thankful that I had her there. After my son was born (at 2:59 a.m.), she offered to go get us breakfast. My husband wanted to get out so she stayed with me instead while he went.

I would recommend Blythe to anyone considering a doula and would recommend a doula to everyone!

Blythe is a phenomenal doula.  She was my doula for the birth of my second child.  We had planned a homebirth and had a lovely time laboring at home.  I could feel her pouring good energy and love into my body during every contraction.  Her kind words, gentle touches and peaceful presence were such a contribution to the whole experience.

When things turned course and we ended up rushing to the hospital, I could not have been more grateful to have Blythe there.  She held my hand and talked me through all of the procedures and adjustments that needed to be done.  She stayed with our family well after the birth of our baby and helped us all to adjust to our new surroundings and unexpected birth experience.  Blythe is a loving, generous, and kind soul and you can feel every bit of that when she is with you.  She came to check on us a day later to make sure we were doing well.  Her home visit a week or so later was so special.  Our new daughter and I felt so cared for and appreciated.

When Blythe is working as a doula by your side, you can truly feel that it is her calling to work with women and babies.  How did I get so lucky to have her be a part of my second birth?  I am so grateful.
