We hired Barbara to help us with our birth experience for our first child, and it was hands down the best decision we made in preparing for our delivery. Barbara is extremely knowledgeable, supportive, emotionally intelligent, and knows how to advocate for her clients. She is compassionate and very nurturing, but was also able to be firm and direct when it was needed and appropriate. We took a childbirth education course with Barbara several months before our due date, which was very informative and helpful. We also developed a birth plan with her. She came to my 36 week visit with my OBGYN, so that she could help me ask questions of our doctor and go over the birth plan with our doctor. She was very responsive throughout my pregnancy to any questions I had. When the big day came, Barbara helped a ton with delivery related comfort measures. She communicated a lot of the medical information to me and our support people in more plain english terms, and helped guide us in our understanding of how the birth was evolving medically. Her expert attention really helped fill in the gaps for us, when medical staff were less available to explain. She also did an amazing job with managing the various emotions I and our support party were going through over the course of my labor. She even accompanied me to the OR when I ended up needing a C-section for medical reasons, and her steady nature helped me to get through surgery and remain calm. We had a great experience with Barbara and highly recommend using her services.
