Attends hospital births? All Hospitals
I offer in-hospital support throughout the labour and delivery and I will also stay for a few hours after the birth to ensure you are settled and comfortable and to help with establishing a breastfeeding relationship if needed. I can meet you at the hospital or come to your home to support you there before the transition to the hospital if that is your preference. I am there to help you with things like positioning and breathing techniques, offering evidence based information, ensuring informed consent practices, and to help create a positive and comforting environment where you feel safe and empowered to give birth.
Attends home births? Any Home Birth
I love home births and would be honoured to support you at home alongside a midwifery team. I will arrive as soon as you decide you are ready for in-home support and will stay for a few hours after the birth to help tidy up, make sure you and baby are settled and comfortable, and to offer support in establishing breastfeeding if needed. During your labour, I am there to help create a safe and comforting environment and to empower you in your journey of bringing new life into the world.

Post a testimonial for Olivia van Bommel

My husband and I would absolutely recommend hiring Olivia as your doula. She was thorough and thoughtful in our prenatal sessions, asking insightful questions and helping us think through our birth goals. During the birth, she was attentive to our needs, always offering to help in any way we found most beneficial. When I was experiencing painful back labour, she gave me a helpful set of positions/exercises to try which helped labour progress. She was also a huge help with the logistics of getting to the hospital from our home. When we had her come by for the postbirth follow ups, she went above and beyond in giving us practical help at home in a time we so needed it. Friends asked us about our experience of having Olivia as a doula and we simply said "we couldn't have done it without her". My husband and I are confident that our birth experience was so positive in large part due to her help and support. Thank you, Olivia!

Having Olivia as our doula truly helped my husband and I feel so at peace with our baby’s impending birth. Olivia provided two prenatal consultations that really helped set the tone for what to expect from her as a birth doula. I feel like Olivia really wanted to get to know us and our birth goals to know how to best advocate for us during a time where we may not be able to advocate for ourselves. Olivia communicates clearly, and is very compassionate with a calm demeanour. You can see that she is passionate about supporting women through birth, as well as supporting partners through their partners birth. She was such a positive support person to my husband and I during my labour; assisting with birth positions and counter pressure (which gave hubby a break). Because of purposeful time spent getting to know us prenatally, I felt that we were in such good hands during my labour.
