I am currently working on my MSSW at Columbia focusing on child, youth, and family services. I received my BS through the University of Washington in Psychology focusing on child development and studied parental influence on early child language development. As a postpartum doula and infant/early childhood nanny I have helped guide parents through the various transitions of these early days to help their families thrive. I hope to be able to support your family soon!
After working with families for over 5 years I have shifted to focusing on postpartum work. I love this time and focus on supporting the whole family through hands on care, resource sharing, and early childhood development education. My daytime rate is $60/hr and my overnight rate is $70/hr - more information about my rates and offerings can be found on my website: https://www.deenihandoula.com

Having Zoey in our home was truly an incredible gift and privilege. When my wife first suggested hiring a postpartum doula, I said, “Why? I’ll be home. I can support you.” But she wanted me to enjoy our new life and our baby too, without feeling like I had to be “on” every minute. It was the right call.
Zoey came once a week, and I genuinely looked forward to those days. She would hold the baby so Mama could rest, and I could run to the grocery store, shower, exercise, whatever. She did the dishes and other helpful tasks without being asked (and somehow figured out where everything went). She offered expert guidance whenever we needed it (I’m a pro with the Moby Wrap thanks to her). She even baked for us!
Truly, truly, truly one of the best investments we’ve ever made.

Zoe was our phenomenal doula for three months, helping us all the way through the challenging 4th trimester. I don’t know how we could have done it without her. She did day shifts and night shifts, and comforted me through all the difficult transitions that came with postpartum: breastfeeding challenges, loss of self, difficult labor recovery, intense sleep deprivation while I was trying to increase my milk supply, and more. She was so wonderful with our newborn son, and we were always at ease seeing her interact with him. Zoe is communicative and proactive, and always figures out how she can be most helpful, whether that’s running a load of baby laundry, taking the baby from our frazzled and exhausted selves to soothe and put to bed, or guiding us through the numerous newborn milestones backed by her wealth of knowledge and research. We initially wanted to work with Zoe because she loves child development as a science in addition to loving babies and children, and we could not have made a better choice. Any time I had a question, she was game to answer, and I had so many as a first time mom seeking research-backed guidance. The internet can be overwhelming with advice (and “advice”), and Zoe was there to help us sift through it all.
Thanks to Zoe, we were able to rest and find a ton of joy in our transition to parenthood, rather than just feeling overwhelmed. While becoming a parent is challenging regardless, Zoe’s help made it much, much easier than it could have been. We are forever grateful!

Zoe did an incredible job helping us for the first six weeks of our newborn's life. She was proactive, always looking for new ways to take some stress off of our plate and trying to help us get some extra sleep. Her communications skills were amazing and she was very relaible. Zoe always cheked in to make sure she knew the plan each evening and always showed up early. We were so grateful to have her help and can't recommend her enough.

Highly recommend Zoe as an incredibly intelligent, resourceful and caring doula. As a pregnant woman with a supportive partner, I had no idea what to expect (as much as we read and prepared for everything!!) when becoming a new mom. Zoe was greatly supportive to our family. I had a rough -- even traumatic -- birthing experience, as well as post-partum depression. Zoe was both attentive and thoughtful regarding how to navigate my emotions, our family dynamic and, most importantly, how to care for my new baby girl when I was having trouble doing so. When I had problems nursing, Zoe had contacts/resources prepared and got me connected with a nursing specialist right away. Zoe helped us cook, do laundry and care for my daughter when my husband and I needed time to connect, sleep and/or take a breath. When I was having issues with my doctors and was beyond exhausted, she reached out to schedule appointments on my behalf. When my breast pump died, she navigated the return policy with the company and the company sent a new one for free. She was truly amazing! Finally, the most important is that Zoe was compassionate and empathetic toward my daughter. I could not think of a better person to be transiently part of our family at the beginning of my daughter's life. We were so fortunate to have found Zoe. She is a gem!

With seemingly endless options in postpartum support, we are immensely grateful to have found Zoe. She was instrumental in helping us confidently step into parenthood, especially first timers.
From the very beginning, Zoe took the time to get to know us as individuals - our aspirations and concerns for those early weeks as a new family. She tailored her support to each of us, and her thoughtful, personalized care became a cornerstone of our first six weeks postpartum. She quickly became our lifeline, seamlessly blending education, humor, emotional support, and practical assistance. Her extensive knowledge in the postpartum space was nothing short of remarkable - we often joked that she was our shortcut to hours of Googling.
Zoe's help was crucial in those early days - from latching and breastfeeding support, to reading our baby’s cues, to getting some much needed uninterrupted sleep… she did it all while also providing essential support for mom's physical and emotional recovery. She even went out of her way to ensure dad felt supported and engaged, drawing from her research on the critical role fathers play in early language development. Her deep educational background truly sets her apart and gives her insights that many others simply don’t possess.
One of Zoe’s many talents is her cooking. Her meals weren’t just delicious, they were thoughtfully designed to support mom’s recovery, incorporating ingredients that promoted healing and boosted lactation. Her meals allowed us to focus entirely on our baby, recovery, and finding our rhythm as a new family.
While the newborn stage is often described as overwhelming, with Zoe by our side, we truly thrived and have nothing but happy memories of those first few days and weeks. Each of us developed a unique and special bond with Zoe, and we know she’ll remain a cherished part of our lives for years to come.

Zoe was fantastic as a postpartum doula, helping us learn how to care for our little one. She was supportive, always on-time, and a wonderful resource. We highly recommend working with Zoe!

Zoe did several overnight shifts with our family when we had our second child. She was a huge help and so pleasant to have in our home. It’s a vulnerable time being postpartum and she was a calming, nonjudgmental presence who anticipated a lot of our needs. Most importantly she let us all get more sleep and is expert at soothing babies. Highly recommend!

Working with Zoe was a fantastic experience. Her professionalism and deep knowledge of child development was extremely beneficial to us as new parents (with limited experience looking after kids). She has an innate gift with children, her abilities to sooth and calm our baby was fantastic to see and learn from. We discovered how to comprehend nonverbal cues such as how to know when our child is tired (red eyebrows!), orchestrate our first baby bath, wear baby carriers, and other basic tasks that helped build our confidence as caregivers.
I knew that the 4th trimester would be difficult but didn't really understand how challenging it would be to get through basic everyday tasks until I was fully in it running on empty. Zoe's guidance and support was a wonderful gift to keep our new family afloat. For example, we learned after hiring her that she is a fantastic cook! The meals she prepared for us saved us so much time and it can't be overstated how important that nourishment became. Each week also included general check ins during which she helped us identify where help was needed and from there would offer the assistance to ensure tasks were complete, connections were made, and appointments were scheduled.
I feel very fortunate that our first months as parents, while challenging in the way any major life event is, were manageable and low stress. This let us focus our energy on what mattered most – connecting with our new baby. Zoe's dedication, warmth, and professionalism made her an indispensable part of our journey, and we couldn't have asked for a better doula.

Zoe was first recommended to us by our close friends who she was working for as a Nanny. At the time we had just had our first child and due to unfortunate circumstances had our planned doula coverage fall through and Zoe completely stepped up to help us out and took on nighttime coverage while still working days for our friends. In addition to being compassionate and helping us out of a jam we quickly found ourselves impressed with her knowledge, care and attention to detail. Not only did she arrive ready to provide us a much needed reprieve but came with deep knowledge on best practices, tips and tricks for keeping our baby happy and healthy and even went above and beyond when it came to general house tasks. Not only did we finally get some needed sleep but she covered even more tasks around our house than we asked for. It was a complete blessing to have found her in our time of need and we continue to hire her for help to this day.
Zoe has also proven to be thoughtful and supportive beyond the times we she has been working for us. Whether that is sending along useful articles based on conversations we have had in the past or even bending over backwards to provide us make-up coverage for nights when original plans fell apart for various reasons.
We recommend Zoe very highly to anyone looking for some help with their new bundle of joy.

In a world of social media, “parenting experts” are everywhere - the information overload can be so overwhelming and paralyzing, especially as first time parents… enter Zoe. The hardest thing to embrace as a first time mum was knowing how much you don’t know, so having support, both hands on and virtually, from a postpartum doula made all the difference.
Zoe’s knowledge in childcare and child development, as well as postpartum care (with a genuine emphasis on CARE) has made all the difference in our first three months as parents. Any new parents knows its easy to feel like your blundering through, and just trying to survive, Zoe’s demeanor is that of “you are the parents, you are experts in YOUR child” as she guides us with her own expertise. She has not only helped to educate, but has given us the tools and encouragement to implement new practices for ourselves.
From answers about baby sleep - both naps and nighttime, routines and schedules, lactation support, to the ever important parental care (self care IS caring for your baby, thanks for the reminder Zoe), developmental milestones, and even playtime (how do you play with a baby? Zoe knows).
She has been a delight to work with, her communication is excellent, and in a time that can be frightening and isolating, Zoe has ensured that post partum is not something we ever felt “alone” in. After working with Zoe, it is impossible to think of how different our experience would have been without her, and we are so grateful for the opportunity to have worked with her, and will hopefully get to work with her again for future children.
