I wasn't sure that I wanted or needed to hire a doula, but once I met with Emily the first time and she explained what she offered as a doula I was sold. She offered birthing classes, regular check ins throughout the pregnancy and postpartum, and was always available to answer questions. She was very good at providing unbiased information and did research regarding my specific health issues. She continued to go above and beyond. I can't quite put into words how grateful I was to have her by my side during L&D. As a first time mom, I was extremely anxious about L&D and Emily was so compassionate and eased all my anxiety. I experienced a very long and hard labor, and I was able to cope because of her support before, during, and after. I felt confident about the choices I made about my birth plan and any decisions I may have needed to make because she did the leg work before the big day. Her value is honestly invaluable and I plan to hire her again!

Emily was my doula for my second birth. I had another doula in another state for my first. Emily was amazing. Her meetings beforehand were well structured, providing necessary information and thoroughly covering my expectations and desires. Throughout the whole experience, Emily did an excellent job remembering and prioritizing those wishes.

I experienced back labor both times, and Emily not only knew strategies to manage it but also to relieve it a bit. She stayed calm, confident, and focused for me the whole time, helping remind me of strategies we had practiced as well as options I had with the hospital. I had requested an epidural, but my daughter came so fast that I did not get one, and the doctor did not even make it to the room in time. Without Emily, I would have been a lot more panicked and stressed out. She was professional and warm the entire way through. She also helped guide my husband through steps he could take to support me.

Afterwards, she made sure we were settled and taken care of before taking off. Her follow-up appointment was prompt and thorough. The rundown of the timeline of labor was helpful for not only reinforcing my memories, but as a way to celebrate the experience.

Emily was a huge help during my labor, and I highly recommend her! She took the time to get to know me and my preferences during our pre-labor meetings. She knows a wide variety of pain management techniques for labor, and did a great job figuring out what might work best for me personally over the course of our meetings. During my labor she was very willing to take instruction, but she was also confident enough to make suggestions (without ever being pushy) and did a good job switching techniques as labor progressed. Her reminders to relax various muscles during early labor, back counterpressure, and then accupressure points on my hands at the end (her recommendation) made a huge difference for me! I highly recommend her to anyone wanting kind and confident support during your labor.

My experience with Emily as my doula was excellent. She attended the birth of my son and more recently helped me pre and post partum with my daughter. Emily really took the time to get to know me and what types of things I liked and didn't like and from this she was able to assist me through labor in ways I wouldn't have thought of for myself. She was very present and available but completely unobtrusive. She seemed to know just when I needed something but never put any pressure on me to do anything if I didn't want to at the moment. She was the exact person I wanted at my birth. 
Her pre and post partum care was also excellent. Again, she took the time to really talk to me and find out the struggles I had, both physical and emotional, and to give me options to deal with them as well as providing a fortification of mental and emotional support.
Emily is kind, caring, and puts so much work and heart into continually bettering her knowledge and resources to help the women she's supporting.

Where do I begin....Emily was ABSOLUTELY incredible as a doula. I decided for my second baby I wanted to have a natural birth experience after an epidural assisted first birth. I was nervous about what to expect as far as pain and stamina with a natural birth. I was also extremely sick with a respiratory bug right before I went into labor. I knew I was feeling worn down and also knew I would be probably going into labor early just based on intuition. I called Emily and she had no problem coming early to support me to help ease my nerves. When my water broke and labor began she was immediately a constant of soothing, confident energy. During pushing she thought of everything, cool washcloth on my face, positive affirmations and was even there after delivery to help my body work through the shakes and post-delivery contractions. The most beneficial aspects of having Emily as your doula is her ability to speak up for your needs to other healthcare providers, her calm when it feels like chaos, and her true passion and knowledge for the birth process and the needs of the mom in each stage of labor. I plan to use Emily for any other birth whether natural or not and can't recommend her enough to anyone else!
