When I lost the ability to be with one care provider because of uncontrollable circumstances, I called Jenny at Mybirth for suggestions. She responded immediately. I knew after speaking with her that she would become our Doula. We had many episodes of prodrom labor and Jenny helped by reassuring me and ensuring I trusted my body. Our birth went so fast that we only had time for one-two calls to Jenny before our ride to the hospital. She met us there and the sight of her provided immediate relief to myself and my husband. I was already 9 cm dilated when I arrived so I began pushing almost right away. Jenny reminded me that I could change positions if I wanted to, provided guidance on the positioning of my legs to help my baby desend, worked very well with the Labor and delivery staff and my midwife, provided warm/cold compresses, brought a handheld fan and a some much needed olive oil. Jenny helped me remember to control my breath and massages my leg with lavender oil when I started shaking from tiredness. After Bennett was born Jenny provided us with any support we solicited but was also very respectful of our time with our baby. The postpartum visits were very reassuring and she helped us navigate a difficult situation with a nonsupportive postpartum nurse. Overall my birth process was just that, MY BIRTH. From the prenatal planning and resources, to the support after the birth when I got mastitis, Jenny is the glue that helped hold our birth process together.
Jenny was our Doula and she was nothing short of amazing. She offered us insight into labor and birth that helped our experience so much! Because of her we were able to attend an awesome birthing class offered and hosted by MyBirth, and I couldn't be more thankful. My baby was born 9 month ago and I still think of Jenny and her guidance that day often, I got the exact birth I wanted and it was in part to her. We called a bit late in the game, and she jumped right in with amazing hip squeezes and hot rice socks on my back. Her calm demeanor kept me calm and her strong, encouraging words helped both my husband and me more than we can say. She was so easy to talk to, I enjoyed her company during the postpartum visit as well!
Hiring Jenny to be our doula was one of the best decisions I made while I was pregnant. She met with us in the weeks leading up to labor, and walked us through what to expect in labor and delivery, as well as the logistics of when to call her, and when to go to the hospital. I had been afraid of the pain of childbirth since I was a kid, and it was so great to have a professional to answer those emotional and non-medical questions that my OBGYN couldn't. When our plan changed and my birth desires dissolved, she met us at the hospital and set up my room with twinkle lights and essential oils to make the room feel less like a hospital room. She talked us through the early stages of labor over the phone to suggest pain-relieving strategies and ways for my husband to help and then came back 12 hours later when I was fully involved in contractions and stayed until my son was born - almost 24 hours after we entered the hospital. She waited with us, holding my hand, pushing on my hips, offering distraction from the pain and tension, and providing warm compresses for the doctor to apply while I was pushing (a lifesaver!). She did all of that while also taking gorgeous photos of what was happening during labor and delivery. Two months later, they still make me cry! She stayed with us until we were settled as a family and then returned the next day to see how we were doing and answer any questions while we were in the hospital, and then kept up with us for the first full week through texts and a home visit. Even now, 2 months later, I can text her and ask a question and she's right there with support and referrals to help this first time mom. Jenny has been invaluable in so many ways, and I'm so thankful for her, her 24/7 support, her calm demeanor, her sense of humor, and her expertise as she walked us through the birth of our first child. 10/10, would definitely hire again!
The short story: if I didn't have Jenny as my doula, I'm really not sure what would have happened to my baby.
The long story: I had a very insane, very abnormal-for-first-time-momma labor, which meant that everything was faster than expected. No one in the hospital was ready for my child to be born, except for Jenny. No one was listening to me-- like really listening to me-- except for Jenny. No one was watching when my baby girl came into this world, except for Jenny. No doctor in the room, no nurse paying attention. She truly was a life-saver!
BUT ON TOP OF THAT: she made me laugh. She distracted me. She helped my husband just be present for me. She talked to me like a normal human being. She made me feel like I moved a mountain with the birth of my daughter. She was all for me and with me and I (and my husband and my child) are so indebted to her. Could not recommend her enough. (Not to mention that during pregnancy, when I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes, she calmed me down, helped me gain perspective, and learn how to care for my self and the baby. Also the post-partum visits were so sweet and helpful and encouraging. AH! So much good stuff.)
1000% RECOMMEND HER.
I knew going in to my birth as a surrogate for my cousins, that I wanted loving, empowering support for my partner and me. Jenny and her colleagues at MyBirth were exactly what I needed! The MyBirth folks work as a team to back each other up- and there was so much comfort and security in knowing that no matter what, I had an amazing doula coming to my birth. I found the group prenatal classes to be a great source of community and education. Prenatals with Jenny felt like I was catching up with an old friend- she has an incredible knack for making you feel safe, seen, and heard. When my birth finally came by way of induction, Jenny helped to calm my fears and anxiety around interventions that were offered by giving me information to make the best decision for my body and my birth.
My birth was a 39 hour journey from start to finish and Jenny was there for it! From texts in the early hours to showing up at my home when my contractions were rolling, to support in the waiting room, and tirelessly helping me in my birth room, I had the most amazing care. She helped my partner and I find different positions, ways to move, techniques for riding the waves of contractions, ideas to get labor going when it stalled, and was my cheerleader the whole time. My partner was so grateful for an extra set of ears, eyes, and gentle hands. The two of them worked so beautifully together that the care was seamless. Though everyone was tired, the two of them were able to support me and each other so their exhaustion never showed.
Post partum was rough- my son was rushed to the NICU and you can bet that Jenny was there to support me. I had visits in the hospital and at home, and her care and information to help me in those postpartum weeks was priceless.
I hope that every birth parent or surrogate has someone as loving as Jenny to support them through their birth journeys.
I can't recommend Jenny and MyBirth highly enough. Jenny was connected and supportive throughout my pregnancy, sending relevant information to our discussions or just checking in to see how I was doing. When I learned my baby was breach, Jenny was my first call - she was present for the version procedure and when that was unsuccessful, she was a wonderful source of support and information on exploring next steps. Ultimately when I decided that scheduling a c-section was the right choice for me, Jenny helped us craft a family centered plan for cesarean, came to the hospital, took the most beautiful photos of our new-born daughter, and was a resource during those crazy first weeks at home. As a first time mom and new to Richmond, Jenny was a source of calm and reassurance. She is warm, loving, and FUN. I also have to recommend MyBirth's labor preparation classes - my husband and I came away totally informed and with less anxiety. We also made a ton of friends that I treasure now. MyBirth truly is a community and Jenny is a wonderful part of it!
the birth of my little boy was everything that I had imagined and a large part of that had to do with Jenny. She was so knowledgeable and knew when to provide extra support throughout my labor. She made it possible for my husband to stay by my side the whole time by providing not only me support but my husband as well. my husband called her his wingman:) I cannot recommend Jenny and all of the MyBirth team enough.
Jenny is warm and friendly person who feels like an old friend as soon as you meet her. We used her for our second baby. Our insurance required we use a Bon Secours hospital instead of our first choice at VCU Medical Center, where we had our first with the midwives. Despite having been through a birth once without a doula, I felt strongly that my experience with my second birth would be greatly improved with Jenny's help. I was right. I was never comfortable with my doctor and nurses helping create the birth plan I wanted at St. Mary's. What I wanted was a natural, low-intervention, non-medical experience. That wasn't entirely possible. I was keenly aware of the sterile smell of the room and that it made me mildly nautious. Jenny came prepared with aroma therapy that instantly took the edge off my nerves. Her greatest gift to us was the advice she was able to give my husband to help relieve some of the pressure from my contractions. Her help was memorable, caring, and invaluable to me. Having her there to take pictures of the birth was an added bonus that I am so greatful for.
We had Jenny as our doula and she has been an incredible source of prenatal and postpartum support. She helped me advocate for myself when my OB and I weren't on the same page; she connected me with the midwives at HDH to have the low intervention birth I wanted; she coached both me and my husband through the labor and delivery of our little boy; and she helped me a great deal by connecting me with a local lactation consultant when I had difficulty breast feeding. Our relationship with Jenny & MyBirth helped me and my husband feel educated, informed, and empowered throughout all phases of our pregnancy and as first time parents of a newborn. I wish every woman in RVA could work with their amazing team, and especially Jenny!
My husband and I came to Jenny for the birth of our son in April of 2016. I had hoped for a natural, intervention free birth with our daughter a year and a half earlier but it had not worked out that way. My recovery from her birth was long and painful because of some severe tearing and I was nervous this second time around that I would re-tear. As much as I was hoping for an intervention free birth this time, I had my doubts that I would be able to pull it off and some serious anxiety about pain and recovery.
I instantly felt comfortable around Jenny with her fun, upbeat yet understanding and soothing personality. I shared with her my fears (which were many) and she helped me prepare myself mentally as much as possible. I remember having a feeling the whole pregnancy that I wouldn't carry all the way to 40 weeks and - therefore - I went to 41. It was so comforting knowing that she was always available for me to text with questions or concerns or hopes that maybe this contraction was "FOR REAL this time". She helped me stay sane and laughing the last few weeks when I was over it all.
During my labor she was a quiet and comfortable presence and offered ideas for different positions when my contractions stalled. She also was understanding yet firm about not letting me go back on my plans when I was begging for the epidural (LOL). All in all she was amazing and I KNOW I could not have had the intervention free birth I so badly wanted without her there.
Working at the hospital I had met Jenny MANY times. Never in a million years did I think I would have a doula. I never even heard of one until I started working at the hospital. Once I found out I was pregnant I was asking everyone their opinion and really doing my research. I happened to run into Jenny at the hospital and she told me to just bring my husband for a meeting. By this time I was convinced I needed a doula, I was dealthy afraid of birth! I was far away from my family and friends, who are in NJ, and I just felt she could just be a friend to have there with me. When I brought my husband to meet Jenny, his first question was "What am I paying you for?", I was mortified!! Jenny laughed it off and told us it was a great question. She gave the best response and my husband said "ok, fair enough." And we signed our contract and put our deposit down!
When it came time for our little guy to come, it wasn't anyway I had planned, which I know it doesn't always happen how you plan! I had to be induced, I couldn't have a midwife, I was so scared and bummed. Jenny immediately came to the hospital to be with me. My husband had to run home and do a few things, he didn't want to leave me, but he felt good about leaving since I had Jenny! She left us later that night and came back the next day after my water broke. Even though I was hooked up to IV's and the fetal monitors, Jenny still helped me labor anyway I wanted. She was great moral support, even when I told my husband to leave the room, she was right there with me. Poor girl even got in the shower with me! When it was time for me to push she was right there, she never left. She stood next to my husband and the doctors.
After the baby came, she stayed with us for awhile and helped support me with breastfeeding. It was great to have her visit us the next day and then at home a week later. We loved having Jenny, and my husband said "WELL WORTH THE MONEY!!" He is all for everyone having a doula!
After two miscarriages and seven rounds of fertility treatments, my husband and I found out we were expecting our son last June. On the very same day we learned that my mother had stage 3 colon cancer. I knew that we would need support not only to navigate the process of birth but also to help with all of the emotions that would be wrapped up in our son's birth. I began my search via doula match and instantly connected to Jenny's profile. I was easily able to utilize the MyBirth website and contacted Jenny to set-up our first appointment. I knew Jenny was going to be our doula when she became noticeably teary-eyed when I relayed our journey to become a family. We attended multiple classes at MyBirth throughout our pregnancy and spoke frequently with Jenny. Because of my history and age, I was considered a high-risk pregnancy and received my care with a physician. Jenny was able to seamlessly integrate her care into the more medical model of my physician. As we neared my due date, it was confirmed by my physician that I would be induced. Jenny helped my husband and I prepare for what an induced labor would look like and answered all of our questions regarding her role (and my husband's) during that process. Jenny's warm and caring nature combined with her confidence as a doula helped us immensely as we worked through our very long labor (26 hours!!). Logan was born on his grandmother's birthday, February 25th, which was a sweet way to acknowledge not only our journey but also my mother's. Jenny was amazing! She also was able to capture the day for us as our birth photographer, providing pictures we will cherish forever. I highly recommend Jenny and the entire staff at MyBirth. We look forward to working with Jenny again in the future.
Jenny was our doula for our second baby's birth in January 2016. I cannot recommend her enough!
My husband was initially hesitant to hire a doula, but after one meeting with Jenny, he knew we needed her by our side. She felt like a friend instantly, and was always honest and upfront about what to expect. I was very interested in a natural birth, but was hesitant and really didn't have the support or encouragement that I felt I needed to go through with it. Jenny was so encouraging the entire process, and at times my only inspiration and support to keep on the path I knew I wanted. She was not only supportive, but also a great resource for any questions or recommendations. When I was feeling nervous and unsure, she recommended some readings to help me get through. I had major hip pains throughout my pregnancy and she had recommended a chiropractor that I LOVED and have continued to see post-partum. We also really enjoyed our birthing class and group meeting where we met other families that were due around the same time. These were things I wasn't expecting when we hired a doula, but I'm so grateful we were able to have access to and be a part of.
During and after labor, Jenny thought of even the little things that helped tremendously. From keeping me hydrated and fed to peppermint towels--she was so encouraging and amazing, even with being woken up at 2 or 3 in the morning. Without her, I just know I would not have been able to have the birth that I wanted. I would not have had the strength or courage to follow thru. She even drove to the hospital, through the beginnings of a blizzard, to check on us the next day.
Our experience with Jenny was incredible beyond words. In fact, we are moving to another state and I'm quite devastated that I won't be able to have Jenny with us for our next baby. She helped give us such a positive birthing experience. She raised the bar high for any future doula. Thank you so much, Jenny!
I could not have asked for a more perfect birthing experience with Jenny. It was comforting working with her and mybirth and knowing that I was amongst extremely knowledgeable individuals. I had an unexpected change in my birth plan in which I was unable to have a mid wife at VCU and I learned about it while I was in labor! Through Jenny's extensive contacts through out the community she was able to already have options available for me when she arrived at my home. I honestly never stressed for a moment because I knew I was in safe hands and that all would be well. We had a calm, peaceful birth and we were even privileged enough to have Patience Salgado take birthing photos. I loved my afterbirth bath and the cute gifts Jenny brought over that made my day.
Another important thing to mention was that Jenny always made the time to check in on me and see how things were going. She was able to listen and recommend additional groups or services that I should consider and provided a list of contacts immediately after our meeting. Her advice was invaluable and helped me not only while I was pregnant, but also during post partum.
Choosing Jenny as my doula ( and friend) was the best decision that I could have made and I highly recommend her services to anyone who is searching for a doula.
My wife and I were so happy with our experience of having Jenny as our Doula!! From the start she was very personable, informed, and attentive to our needs. Upon leaving our first meeting we immediately felt comfortable with having her be a part of the team moving forward.
On the morning that my wife went into labor we were shocked to learn, after several calls, that the hospital that we planned to have the delivery did not have any midwives on call. Having a midwife perform her delivery was very important to my wife, so the idea of having to use a traditional doctor at the last minute was not an option. Thankfully Jenny was able to get in contact with another midwife in the area and were able to transfer to another hospital which turned out to be a wonderful experience.
Having Jenny with us greatly reduced the amount of stress associated with the birth process and she played a vital role in my wife having the birth experience that she wanted. Throughout labor she remained calm and composed and when our birth plan inevitably changed she was very professional in giving suggestions and laying out our options.
Jenny also put us in touch with local photographer Patience Salgado who was able to capture beautiful photos of the whole experience!
I would highly recommend choosing Jenny as a Doula and she has awesome glasses!
I first got to know Jenny at a meet your Doula event a year ago. We immediately got along. She is funny, gregarious, and easy to talk to. I felt an immediate connection to her. We mulled over the idea of hiring a doula for several months before I finally contacted her. She got back to me right away, and was able to meet with us within a few days of my email. We met her on a Sunday afternoon in her office and ended up staying for 2 hours. My husband loved her too.
Throughout the 3rd trimester of my pregnancy, Jenny was available to me at all times that I needed her to answer all sorts of questions that I had. When the doctors had some concerns that I was pre-diabetic in the last 2 months of my pregnancy, Jenny was a great resource, providing me with some ideas on how to change my diet and how to get over those carb cravings!
The day of my labor and delivery, my water broke very early in the morning and Jenny answer the phone when we called. She stayed in contact with me throughout the day and was 100% available to me. My husband was very nervous about the actual birth and Jenny did a great job both on the phone that day and in the hospital later that afternoon of calming him and keeping him mellow.
She was literally my rock during the whole labor. She helped me in and out of the tub, on to the birth ball and toilet, back to bed, rubbing my back, my shoulders, my feet, and making sure I was hydrated and well-fed.
After a 23-hour labor, and not dilating past nine centimeters (drug free- also something I don't think I was strong enough to do without Jenny!) The doctors decided I may be a good case for a C-section. Jenny was so supportive with everything that was going on, and really made me feel comfortable in the moment.
I can't say enough nice things about Jenny and her overall awesomeness. I am honored to call her not only my doula, but also now a friend. I can't wait to get pregnant again just to work with her!
I had a long labor and Jenny was with us for about 24 hours. It was great having someone who knew the hospital and our midwife, as well as having an extra set of hands to give my husband some breaks during such a long labor. It turned out that I didn't want want much physical support during my labor, so I actually found Jenny's role most helpful before my daughter's birth. As someone with a lot of question and concerns, it was so great to have someone I could text or call leading up to my birth. As a first time mom I was really nervous about labor and it was very reassuring to know we would have someone there who was experienced and just focused on us. We took our birth classes with Jenny as well, so it was wonderful that we really got to know each other in addition to our prenatal visits. The group of women at MyBirth RVA offer a great family of support - I liked being able to meet the other doulas in our group prenatal meeting. Jenny also took a lot of pictures during my birth that were great to have after.
Jenny was key in making the birth of our daughter such a beautiful and unforgettable experience. This was our first baby and we weren't sure exactly what type of birth we wanted - we had some strong preferences, but were flexible in other areas. Jenny supported us completely, was never pushy and never judging (unlike other doulas we had met). She pushed me when I needed it and comforted us through all decision making. It's clear she has experience working with mothers all along the birth preference spectrum. The fact that Jenny works in partnership with other doulas was also comforting. She did a great job supporting my husband and putting him at ease so that he could really enjoy the labor and delivery, something he wasn't sure that he'd be able to do! Kept him calm, confident (and well fed!) during a long labor! Jenny also captured photos of our sweet girl's arrival that we will always cherish. She supported us as a couple from start to finish, including extra care and attention when we got home post-partum. We felt instantly at ease with Jenny, as if we had known her for a long time. We feel blessed to have had her by our side!
I feel so blessed to have met and hired Jenny as my birth doula. I was also dually blessed to have her teach my birth class. She was professional, enthusiastic, knowledgeable and kind. Her gentle, reassuring soul guided me through my birth with such strength and peace. She told me she would surround me in a protective bubble and she did! As a single mother I know there is no way I could have had a similar experience without her and am truly grateful God gave me Jenny. She fostered confidence in me in the months prior to my delivery and I was able to have the natural birth I so strongly desired. I will never forget my experience with Jenny.
Jenny was our doula for the birth of our first baby and she was incredible. I truly don't think the experience would have been the same without her. From the time we chose her to be our doula she was there to give me invaluable advice, reassurance, guidance, and support. During my labor she was such a calming presence and I felt comfortable in knowing what to do next with her there. When things didn't go as planned she remained composed and positive and helped us to decide on the next best step. Jenny is a wealth of knowledge and truly a lovely person. She continued to help us and advocate for us during a longer than expected hospital stay as well as postpartum. I would recommend Jenny in a heartbeat and I think hiring her during my pregnancy was one of the best decisions I made to have the birth experience I desired.
I am a first time mama and recent RVA transplant who was seeking a natural birth. I met Jenny at a Meet the Doula "speed dating" event and clicked immediately with her. She was tremendously helpful in providing evidence based literature, guidance and general comfort throughout the end of my pregnancy, delivery and postpartum. If you plan on delivering at MCV, she knows the staff and their procedures well, which makes her a great patient – midwife/doctor liaison if needed. She was crucial in helping me deal with and finally accept my breech presentation baby. She helped create a loving and gentle environment for my eventual cesarean, which left me proud and positive with my overall birth experience even though it was the complete opposite of what I had planned! She is open-minded and doesn’t push specific beliefs but rather guides and helps you make your own decisions when asked for help. She is easy to talk to and made my husband feel very comfortable and included. I can honestly say she helped reduce my fear and helped me prepare for the labor and delivery of my baby, making her a crucial part of this whole experience. I highly recommend her :)
I can not over emphasise how important having Jenny Fisher as our doula was to my husband and I during my pregnancy and for the birth of our second child. After having a traumatic and unwanted C-section with my first (and without a doula), I was especially anxious, cautious, and untrusting of myself and my care providers, given my prior experience. However, working with Jenny, I began to feel more confident, capable, and in control. My husband also felt more at ease about our "team" once we hired her. She's extremely knowledgeable and experienced, engaging and a great listener, fun and easy going while being serious and professional. During our pretnatal appointments, as we got to know each other, we worked through my fears and wishes for the birth. I always felt like I could reach her if I needed to run something by her or chat - she was readily available via email/text/phone. When my labor began and I called her, she was pragmatic and had helpful suggestions - my labor went faster than I expected, so we met at the hospital (my one regret was that I hadn't called her to come to me sooner!). I distinclty recal her helpful words and hands as I labored. She never doubted me. She knew I could do it. My husband and I can't imagine the birth of our second child with out Jenny. I truly believe she set me on the path to a successful VBAC. I highly recommend her and in a heartbeat will hire her again for any subsequent pregnancies!
I had a very long labor. Jenny was at my side everytime I called her. She made suggestions but also made it very clear that I was in control of my birth experience. With the help of Jenny, my husband was able to nap in the labor and delivery room. Having Jenny there with us, we were not only able to photograph the birth but my husband felt less stressed since she was able to help with pain management.
We would absolutely use her doula services again! Thanks Jenny for all your help brining our sweet boy into the world.
Jenny attended the birth of both of my boys. We actually met her by accident, as she was the backup for the doula we originally intended to use for our first birth. When we discovered we were pregnant again, we knew we would want to use Jenny again. The second time around, we met with Jenny a few times before I went into labor, and she was incredibly supportive of our birth plan, offering resources and recommending childbirth classes to help us prepare for the birth experience we wanted. She was a tremendous comfort during both labors, helping with pain relief techniques which allowed me to delay the epidural as long as possible. Jenny's close working relationship with the VCU Midwives prompted me to change care providers late in my second pregnancy, which was the best decision I could have made. I would definitely recommend Jenny without hesitation to anyone who wants to make sure they have the most positive birth experience possible.
Jenny was a critical part of our birth experience, and we highly recommend her to anyone. She knows the staff at VCU well, and this made us feel less anxious in general. Aside from her knowledge as a doula, she has two kids of her own and a husband who went through those births by her side - we knew she could relate to what we were about to experience and give us real, practical advice in addition to her expertise. I interviewed many people, but I was the most comfortable with Jenny from the very first chat on the phone, and my husband felt the same when he met her - we felt like we alredy knew her. What I found in the process is that being comfortable with someone is the deciding factor when all else is equal because your doula is going to share in your most intimate family moments during your pregnancy and childbirth. We were very happy to have Jenny with us, guiding us along during pregnancy and ultimately playing a crucial role during labor and delivery. She literally held one leg while my husband held the other! You can't get more intimate than that, and it seemed totally natural to have her there. My husband and I were both able to look to her for support, encouragement, and reassuarance. Which, for us, is exactly what we were looking for in a doula. Somehow, we did not get any pictures with Jenny, but she will always be part of our memories when we think of our baby's birth, and we are very happy about that.
My husband and I interviewed 3 doulas before meeting Jenny. I think we knew right away she would be the right fit for us when the three of us spent a couple hours talking over coffee without realizing how much time had passed. That was the end of our search. She met with us a couple more times before birth and was able to talk us through any concerns we had about becomng new parents. She was a wealth of knowledge on everything from pediatricians, to recommended reading on vaccination options and circumcision, as well as all the usual things like pain management during birth.
We were blessed to have a relatively quick, all natural birth. Jenny coached us over the phone while we were at home and was with us from the moment we drove up to the hospital door. (My labor was too short for her to make it to our house, but she would have been there.)
I still remember the amazing feeling of the cool peppermint washcloths she prepared and put on my back during labor. I had some complications after birth, and she was there to support my husband while they had to put me under anesthesia me for a procedure. We have some very powerful images she photographed of our birth that bring tears to my eyes anytime I look at them and remember that special day.
We cannot recommend Jenny more highly. She's amazing!
Jenny is an awesome doula.
I had done all the research, and knew that women who have doulas tend to have shorter labors and lower c-section rates, but I was skeptical about whether I’d find someone with whom I felt comfortable enough to have at my birth. Jenny was exactly what I needed- she is professional, yet warm and funny. She managed to connect not only with me but also with my husband, which was very important to us.
I wasn’t 100% committed to having a natural childbirth, and Jenny was supportive of doing whatever was right for us. Our prenatal meetings were relaxed and Jenny focused on discussing what we wanted and didn’t want during labor, delivery, and post partum. Our meetings really helped us address our concerns and develop our birth plan.
During labor, Jenny was a calming influence and great support as we went to the hospital to deliver our daughter. We did end up having an amazing natural childbirth. Jenny had great techniques to help me feel more comfortable during pushing, and was even able to snap some great pictures of the birth. I am so grateful to have had Jenny there to support us as we welcomed our baby girl.
Jenny is a wonderful doula. She is very knowledgable and professional, as well as a comfortable and loving person. She obviously cares very much for what she does. Her knowledge and experience was invaluable to us before and during the labor. The added bonus of her being a photographer was fantastic. We love the pictures that we have of the experience. We would recommend her to anyone.
From the moment we met Jenny, we knew she was meant to be our doula. My boyfriend and I instantly connected with her and felt as if we had known her our entire lives. Jenny's compassion for natural birth and the well being of mom and baby is very evident. Even though the birth of my baby boy didn't go as I had planned it in my mind, Jenny was there with us every step of the way. Her encouraging words and kind spirit made her a staple in my birth experience and as I reflect back on my journey I couldn't imagine her not being there and not being a part of that experience. After a grueling and tiring 48 hours of labor, my contractions weren't progressing and I had to be induced and started on pitocin (something I did not want). I fought through the pitocin contractions for almost 4 hrs with the help of Jenny and my boyfriend. And when I decided that I could no longer handle the SUPER intense contractions that pitocin cause, Jenny reassured me that it was ok if I wanted to get an epidural and she made me feel good about all the work had done thus far. In that moment when I was most down on myself and felt like I was giving up because I wanted an epidural, she comforted me. She told me I just needed to rest and so that's what I did. Another great thing about Jenny is that she is also a photographer. She did my maternity pics as well as labor and delivery pics in the hospital. I could not imagine my birth story without Jenny and I would definitely recommend her to anyone searching for a doula for their birth experience.
Jenny truely helped make labor a wonderful experience! My husband was not familiar with what a doula was and he was ver happily surprised at how much he appreciated having her there during my labor. I really wanted to have a natural childbirth and she made that possible for me. She is so supportive and knowledgable, but not pushy! I could not have done it without her and I am so grateful to her for empowering me as a women and doing what my body was meant to do. Jenny was wonderful to work with and made everyone in the delivery room feel comfortable. The experience was something I will never forget.
