Scout was an absolute lifesaver for our family. We contacted Scout for postpartum support after I was diagnosed with preeclampsia and realized we'd be having our baby much sooner than expected. Scout was an advocate, team member, and empathetic friend to us from the first consultation call. After I was hospitalized, Scout came to the hospital and helped me intellectually and emotionally process how my birth could look, given I was now high risk.

As first time parents, Scout was essential to our sanity and well being postpartum. I had a particularly emotional transition home since my baby was in the NICU. The night we came home, Scout met us at the house and was the steady, containing presence we needed then and throughout the weeks that our son was in the hospital.

Although I considered myself relatively knowledgable and well-resourced around postpartum and infant care, I would have been completely overwhelmed without Scout. After we brought our son home, Scout was invaluable in supporting with breastfeeding, sleep, and my personal recovery. She reassured us and provided strategies for our typical new parents struggles but she also knew when to signal for extra support. For example, my blood pressure rose to dangerous levels posrtpartum. Scout consulted with her own network to help us make the important decision to go to the ER, which turned out to absolutely be the right call. She also flagged the possibility of our son's dairy allergy for us before his pediatrician and helped us connect with specialists to navigate the next steps without being too restrictive.

Overall, I cannot imagine my experience without Scout's support. I will absolutely be using her again for my next postpartum experience!

Scout was our postpartum doula when I gave birth to my daughter in May. I mostly used her “on-call” services - Not only is Scout a seemingly bottomless fount of knowledge and wisdom, but she became a mental and emotional sounding board for both my husband and me. She helped us figure out our “rhythm” as a family, particularly overnight (a huge blessing I recommend to every family I can).

Prior to giving birth, I dramatically underestimated the help we would need as a new family. I had a very straightforward birth, and our daughter was wonderfully healthy, and we still needed more help than anticipated - enter: Scout. She was there for text message questions covering the entire spectrum; she brought nourishing meals to the house; she asked the questions we weren’t even thinking about (I could barely see the day ahead of me, let alone looking weeks into the future - she helped me come up with sustainable plans that would see me through the roughest part of new parenthood that we STILL rely on to this day); she’s the only person I would’ve trusted my newborn with. She lessened the load in almost every direction - allowing me and my husband to rest, regroup, focus, and really, be better parents.

Long story short: she’s got the technical skills down pat. Beyond the value of her very skilled work, Scout is an incredible emotional support. She’s experienced, she’s potentially the world’s best listener, she’s got a sense of humor (trust me, you’ll need one), she’s laid back while being subtle confident … she’s an ace in the hole. To this day, my daughter lights up when she sees “Auntie Scout.” I still shoot questions past her and am grateful to have her in my corner.

Scout pours into you so you can pour into your new baby, and it's really a remarkable, beautiful experience that I didn't even know I needed, but I am so thankful that I had. She was there to make sure that I was feeling as rested, comfortable, and confident as I possibly could. She made sure we were all fed and hydrated. She helped with correcting my latch to make breastfeeding infinitely better for me and my baby. She shared tips with my husband for how to help take care of me when she wasn't there - actionable things that he could do without my having to prompt or ask for. Especially that I didn't even know I needed. And she was there for support and help when I was freaking out and didn't know where else to turn. Having someone come into your home that feels natural and warm and like she has been there the whole time is a skill I didn't even know existed. Everything was so much more bearable knowing I had her on my team. My recovery felt really personal and intentional rather than just being thrown into the fire and trying to bounce back. Scout is a huge part of that.

Above all else she is kind, open, respectful and receptive to any and everything. Having her to guide us through this transition into parenthood was a really wonderful experience. I tell all new parents that no matter what, a postpartum doula is the best place you could ever put your money. This is even more certain with Scout. She's really the best.

Scout helped us welcome our second child, Ollie, home and was tremendously hands on and supportive with my healing journey along with our transition from one to two kids.

Specifically she was nurturing and supportive of me, reminding me of key hydration and nutrition milestones, worked well with my oldest child in supporting her adjustment to the role of big sister, and was a listening ear to my partner coaching him on how to be most supportive.

Most importantly to me, she treated me like a human with good instincts and probed and asked questions when I was doubting myself.

I had a much faster recovery time, this time, and our son is thriving and I credit Scout with a lot of that. A decidedly different experience than our first birth and fourth trimester.
