Relevant volunteer or advocacy work

I have attended 6 births total and 4 of them probono births for families who couldn’t otherwise afford care; one was a bereavement birth, one was for teen parents, one for low income parents and another was for a medically fragile baby born with only half a heart who is still fighting strong to this day. I have 10 total years of experience working with young infants and toddlers. The majority of my experience was from nannying for a family for five years from when their oldest was 18 months until their youngest was a 11 months. I also worked in infant rooms in daycares, in an award winning Montessori school and as a special needs caregiver for 3 years. I have 350+ hours as a volunteer for the boys and girls club of central Oregon as well.

Mabel was absolutely amazing during my pregnancy and labor and after delivering! She helped me answer so many questions and gave so much great advice on all of the different things that come up during this process. I had a hard labor and couldn't of done it without her and my husband, Mabel made me so comfortable at the hospital and showed my husband ways he could support me and turned the hospital room into a space that felt more like a spa. She put me at ease and helped me in the tub and communicating with the hospital staff and also helping me with being as comfortable as possible during my hospital stay, she was up with me the whole time and made sure I had everything i needed and more. I cant put into words how much I appreciated all that she has done for us on this journey!

I cannot praise Mabel enough for her invaluable support during the early weeks of parenthood. As a new mom recovering from a C-section, her assistance and support was really appreciated. She helped us with a number of tasks, from bringing me my breast pump for middle of the night feeds to cleaning bottles and pump parts. Additionally, her willingness to tackle chores like folding baby's laundry ensured that we could focus on bonding with our newborn without the added stress of chores. She even baked me snacks specifically tailored to promote lactation. Her non-judgmental demeanor fostered a comfortable environment where I felt at ease expressing my concerns, raising questions and seeking guidance. Her support also allowed my husband and I to sleep and rest, which was particularly crucial for my recovery post-surgery. With Mabel’s assistance, we were able to navigate the challenging early days of parenthood with greater ease and confidence, and for that, we are very grateful. I wholeheartedly recommend her services to any new parents in need of support!

Oh goodness, do we cherish Mabel! Her sweet soul came into our lives when our newborn arrived four weeks early and we simultaneously had an untimely family death. We hadn’t yet gotten around to setting ourselves up with postpartum support and Mabel built us into her schedule on very short notice. She helped us adjust to all parts of new parenthood and caring for a premie infant. Mabel was an amazing resource to us for so many topics- lactation, pumping, sleeping, postpartum recovery, infant soothing, nutrition, cloth diapering, sustainable baby products, safe sleeping practices, childcare and nanny tips etc etc. She was even watering our dead plants for us.We are so grateful for her confident and trustworthy presence. It put us at ease knowing we weren’t in this adjustment period alone and could have the support we need to physically and emotionally be great parents for our daughter. I know all doulas are baby whispers, but Mabel has some extra special superpowers when it comes to connecting with babies. Thank you, Mabel!

I was in a pinch and really needed overnight doula support as my husband needed to be out of town and our son was almost 2 weeks old. It was a last minute request and I wasn't sure we'd find anyone. Mabel was the answer to our prayers! If I could do post partum doula support again I would definitely recommend overnight support. I should also mention I have a toddler already (becomes relevant in a moment). Mabel picked up the overnight request and messaged me immediately to touch base. At first I was nervous at the thought of handing my baby to someone I didn't know and wouldn't be actively with but also relieved to have some support so I could sleep. Mabel arrived promptly on time and from the moment I met her I felt safe with her. She was warm and genuine and eager to help. She picked up the info we needed her to know about my infant son immediately without much guidance which allowed me to focus on my toddler son. After everyone was settled she helped me get set up with my pumps. In the middle of the night I left my milk out and she got everything taken care of and put away so I wouldn't have to go downstairs. In the morning when my son woke up early she even offered to watch him so I could rest more. I wish we got to have Mabel over more- she was a gem. After she left she even messaged me some helpful tips for storing my pumps and milk that were huge timesavers. You can tell Mabel really cares about her clients and this line of work. Would definitely recommend Mabel to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring doula.

Our family enjoyed a great relationship with Mabel. She provided support in a mother's helper roll to me starting at two weeks of life for my daughter until eight weeks of life. we reconnected briefly after we had both relocated to another city and she did provide childcare on a limited basis when my daughter was about 14 months old.

Mabel brought incredible insight into postpartum issues, compassion, and enthusiasm for getting tasks done. she brought a lot of joy during what was a very difficult time. For example she helped take some photos when all of the photography services had been suspended due to Covid. She helped scrub my bathtub which was not a pleasant task so that I could try warm baths to promote breast-feeding. even a simple tasks such as doing laundry, Mabel would fold the clothing in "Marie Kondo" style.

she is a gifted child care provider and has excellent sense of what a babt needs to feel safe and to thrive. furthermore she is very good at sharing her insights in a non-judgemental way so that I could learn from her practical tips to make caring for my child easier for me without making me feel like I was in adequate as a parent.

we had the opportunity to work with a skilled Doula. I think Mabel has many traits that could make her an excellent doula as well.

Thanks to COVID, Mabel wasn’t physically present at my baby’s birth. But she was there for me throughout my very rough pregnancy that almost killed me (literally), through my baby’s extended NICU stay, and provided support I desperately needed. I don’t think I could have gotten through this experience without her??
