I liken my approach to that of a wedding planner. Just as a wedding planner is a professional who assists with the design and planning of a client's wedding, a doula is a professional who works with the couple to discuss their priorities surrounding their upcoming birth, feeding, and postpartum. Our experiences have taught us so much about the differences between care providers, but no matter who the "officiant" of your birth is, the doula becomes a collaborative team member. YOU make all the choices, I will help when unexpected things happen and I will offer you information, and resources or encourage space to ask questions and make decisions.

Post a testimonial for Sarah Barrett

Sarah was our doula for our first baby and was incredible. Sarah’s warm and personable approach made it easy for us and we felt so connected and supported by her throughout the prenatal and postnatal experience. She even provided incredible guidance with introducing our baby to our dog. Her knowledge is unparalleled and played a huge part in helping us prepare for what to expect in the hospital setting and beyond. We had many unexpected twists in our journey to bring our baby girl into this world and Sarah was by our side, supporting us throughout the entire process. We cannot recommend her enough! Thank you Sarah!

Sarah was undoubtedly the rock in our birth and labour story. Her experience in labour, birth, post natal and pre natal care made us feel undoubtedly prepared for our babies arrival. Her calm and collected yet stoic presence made me and my husband feel supported, loved and heard in a labour that had many twists and turns. We leaned on her knowledge and expertise throughout, before, during and after our babies birth as her communication with any question via phone call or text was always answered with sound advice and in a timely mannar. She is still in our live to this day as her personality is positively magnetic. We love Sarah and if we have another little bean, she will be apart of that babies journey as well.

Sarah was an absolute gem during our labour. My son was born very early at 29 + weeks, and Sarah kept a calm and professional attitude in what was a difficult time for my husband and I. As much as possible, Sarah kept to our birthing plan. She brought comforting lights, massage bead, music, and a great attitude. We were super happy with her and wouldn't hesitate to recommend her services. We were very impressed and thrilled that she was part of our very special day. Thank you again Sarah!!

My husband and I were on the fence about getting a doula and we are so thankful that we found Sarah. After our first call I knew she was the perfect fit for us. We were very particular abour what we were looking for and she delivered exactly what we wanted. She was available and supportive with very helpful advice about how to prepare for labour, breastfeeding and more, and did a wonderful job helping me with pain management through my labour. I can't recommend her highly enough.

I had an absolutely amazing experience with Sarah. Sarah met with me and my husband 2 times during my pregnancy and then came to the hospital as soon as my water broke. Sarah was very respectful and encouraging of my wishes.
Sarah was an amazing advocate for me and ensured that my wishes we're being followed when I couldn't advocate for myself. Sarah also brought lots of aids to help me with pain during labour.
Sarah also provided emotional and practical support during the pregnancy, delivery and postpartum. Sarah gave us information on many different areas but one in particular was how to transition our dog to accept the new baby. She was always available to answer our questions and provide reassurance. I would definitely have Sarah involved for any future pregnancy.

Having childbirth with Sarah was my first experience with a doula, even though I already had one child and I had an idea how I wanted the childbirth to be. Sarah met with me and spent good two hours talking about my expectations and my birth plan. She explained things that I did not know or forgot of in great detail and was supportive of my decision to attempt for the natural childbirth. She followed up with me during the last two weeks and helping with any questions I had. When the time has come, she came to the hospital at 3 in the morning on a short notice, and was there until my second boy was born.
Sarah has been very calming, supportive and caring during the process, helped relieve the pressure with the massage and the available tools she had. She was very patient, understanding and nurturing. It felt very comfortable and natural having her with me during one of the most uncomfortable processes.
Sarah also supported us post-partum. She helped with anything we needed and anticipated my and baby’s needs. I can’t say enough how fortunate we have been to have Sarah during these times.

I had the great experience of having Sarah Barrett as my doula! Some back story, I was referred to Sarah at a prenatal class where they strongly suggested I get a doula because doula's make birth awesome (I strongly agree and testify to that). I was almost at my due date when I contacted Sarah and some other doulas for interviews. Sarah was super accomodating! Even though we had to make it through covid restrictions, Sarah was able to make sure that we connected on a personal level before my due date, we had a phone interview where she introduced herself and walked me through what she would be doing for me and my family, she then made sure all of my questions were answered and I got all the information I need. Then we had the pleasure of meeting in person where she came to our home and went through my specific birth preferences as well as what kind of pain management and relaxation techniques I would be open to. Around a week after that, I was in labor and she was on the line with me from the start. She was ready to come to join in my journey at my request and I decided to wait a while before calling her. As soon as my contractions started feeling stronger, I asked her to come to the hospital and help me out. I honestly can't imagine this experience without her support. She encouraged me every step of the way and always offered new pain management techniques as I needed the variety and made sure I focus on my breathing. When the pain became unbearable, I asked for an epidural and she supported me through that decision as well and made sure that I was feeling positive and motivated the whole time. Then when the time came, she turned into my camerawoman, so I could facetime with my family during the pushing stage. She also came over to my apartment afterward to support my postpartum recovery and her tips and tricks were much needed. I honestly don't want to imagine this experience without Sarah, she made my birth and postpartum such a positive experience.

Sarah was really helpful in the months leading up to the birth of my son and super supportive afterwards. She has a positive attitude and is very open minded. I feel comfortable going to her with questions and feel like she is truly knowledgeable in the answers she has given me. I would absolutely recommend Sarah as a doula!

My husband and I were super impressed with Sarah from our first visit with her. We were hesitant as this was our first child but are grateful we chose her! She is very friendly, professional and full of information. She made my entire labouring experience quite enjoyable from the massages to the candles to the music, I couldn't have asked for more. She made me (and my husband) comfortable and confident during the entire process...even when the delivery started to go south for me. All in all, 10/10 recommend Sarah as your Doula!
