Having Sherrica as my doula was a dream come true. After two epidural births, I dreamed of having an “unmedicated” labor and delivery for my third. Things weren’t going as planned- high blood pressure, fetal heart decelerations, pitocin induction. However, with Sherrica’s encouragement and guidance I was able to have a wonderful epidural free birth ??

As a second time mom, I wondered if I would need a Doula again? Well, the answer was YES! Unfortunately, I had to be induced this time around. I still wanted to have an epidural free birth, but I wasn’t sure if I could do that because of the Pitocin. Sure enough, thanks to the amazing support Sherrica offered, we made it! When Sherrica arrived, it felt like a weight was lifted off my chest and my guardian angel was there! She helped me move through various labor positions and helped me breathe through those intense Pitocin contractions, which were harder than I imagined. She knew my birth plan and what I truly wanted and helped encourage me when every part of myself wanted to give in. Truly a blessing to have her on my team.

As a first time mom I was nervous about giving birth and I knew I needed more than just my husband as a support system since neither of us had experienced labor and delivery before. Sherrica was FANTASTIC! She was there for us the entire time. My labor and delivery was everything I wanted it to be and more. I felt supported, heard, and validated the whole process. I would recommend Sherrica to anyone!

As a first time mom, I know I wouldn't have gotten the unmedicated birthing experience I wanted without Sherrica there to help me through labor and keep me on track to my goal! I found the Prenatal (and postnatal) home visits to be very informative and helpful in preparing my husband and I for what to expect and what coaching methods and pain management would work best for us. Her medical/birth knowledge also put me at ease and made me feel confident in the decisions I was making!

We had Sherrica as our Birth Doula in June 2023 as first-time parents.
What can I say? She is the absolute best, and everyone considering a Doula should pick her to be by their side. From the first meeting, there was an instant heartwarming connection. Sherrica was very receptive and respected our wishes for the birth, and did everything in her power so we could have the best birth experience. During labor, she was by our side, supported us, encouraged us to stick with what we planned, and helped us have a safe and outstanding delivery of our baby boy. I can't imagine a better birth experience thanks to her. And even after birth, she is spot-on taking care of the new family.

I cannot stress enough how great it is to have a doula especially if it is your first birth. They are so helpful and I have had the pleasure of having Sherrica as mine. She was amazing! I could not have delivered my baby boy without her being by my side. She was encouraging, super hands on and helpful and easy to get along with super chill and professional at the same time. I can easily say the hardest part of my labour was getting the epidural. I was in labour for 36 hours and I went without meds for 12 hours, bouncing around on the birthing ball and walking around the room. She made me believe I could go without meds, and I hang on as long as I could because I really wanted a natural birth.. I am so grateful she was there to coach me through the entire experience. Overall I'd say I enjoyed my experience even though it was so long and I would honestly use her again if I was to have another child .I cannot recommend her enough! She definitely added to my experience

Having Sherrica as our doula was absolutely the best and most important decision we made for my labor and birthing experience. With baby #2 I wanted to have an unmedicated birth but to be honest I wasn’t very confident about being able to do it until we met with Sherrica. Not only was she knowledgeable but I could tell she truly cares. During labor when I felt my most vulnerable and everyone around me was focused on the monitors, having her support made me feel seen. I truly don’t think I would have been able to stay as calm and focused without her. I’m so glad she was there for me and my husband as we welcomed our baby girl into the world!

Sherrica is great! I would recommend her to anyone looking for a doula. She is very knowledgeable, and I felt comfortable with her immediately when meeting her. Loved that she was a part of my birth experience.

Sherrica has been amazing from the beginning. 

I knew I wanted a doula from when we found out we were expecting because I'm a first time mom and had no idea what to expect. Sherrica was there anytime I felt my concerns weren't being addressed or I was being given half of the information I needed. She gave me resources and answered my questions/concerns to the best of her ability, and if she wasn't sure she made sure I knew what to ask of my provider so that I felt comfortable with the treatment plans. She helped me advocate for myself and answered the phone in the middle of the night when I went into L&D and was having some medical issues that were causing me to delivery earlier than anticipated. She calmed me down over the phone and checked in on me periodically to make sure I was ok. She helped me advocate for myself and wait for my doctor whom I trusted. I wasn't able to have the birth I wanted due to medical issues however I was comfortable knowing we did everything we could to try and have the best possible birth experience I could. She has also been there throughout my postpartum experience and reassuring me that I'm doing great!

Sherrica continues to assist us with our baby journey such as issues with breastfeeding (having a csection set us back on our BF journey) and just overall making sure we are doing well.

Sherrica was the perfect compliment to our birth expectations and experience. She helped us get educated in the areas of knowledge where we were lacking, she helped us calm down and get focused when everything seemed chaotic in the lead up to the birth, and was a confidence reaffirming presence during the labor itself. To top it off, when things didn't go exactly as planned, she was a great resource to help guide us over the finish line safely.

She comes highly recommended from all parties in this household and we hope that any and all who are considering her as your doula, will read this and be sure that she will meet you where you are and get you where need to be by the time the birth comes.

I cannot say enough good things about our experience with An Intimate Beginning & Sherrica Blackmon! From the time we had our first meeting, both my husband and I were sold on the benefits of bringing a doula along with us on our pregnancy and birthing journey. From the educational meetings we had during the pregnancy, to the support provided during labor and delivery - I can say without a doubt things wouldn’t have gone the same without her! The postpartum support provided has also been such a benefit as we adjust to our new normal. I strongly recommend An Intimate Beginning, for any pregnancy/labor & delivery. Even if you have had children in the past. Her support is invaluable and empowering for all involved.

This was my first time using a doula! My 3rd baby. I wanted things to be more peaceful with this birth so we decided to try a doula and I was not let down! Our doula Sherrica was incredible! She was very professional, caring and patient. . She helped coach us through coping mechanisms while in labor. She followed my birth plan as close as we could get. The only thing was that I couldn’t do is labor at home due to medical reasons, but she was by my side the whole time we were in the hospital!
She provided physical and emotional support for both me and my spouse. She was able to answer any questions I had about birth, pain management, breastfeeding ect. Sherrica is very knowledgeable in every area of pregnancy and PP! Also her partner is amazing and very knowledgeable! I would use them again!

I am convinced that I could not have done this without Sherrica. She was exactly what I needed during each stage of my pregnancy and labor. She empowered me with knowledge leading up to my birth so that I could make informed decisions, and she coached and supported me through each stage of the labor process. Sherrica went out of her way to make sure I had support from start to finish—she even had a backup doula on call just in case. Because of her presence during labor, my husband also felt better equipped and prepared to support me in the best way possible (no standing in the corner terrified). We are both team doula and team Sherrica! Thank you for all that you do and enhancing our birth experience.

My husband and I decided to hire a doula for our first birth. Hiring Sherrica was one of the best decisions we could have made! Her extensive knowledge about pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period has been invaluable to us. She has given us evidence based information to help us make the best informed decision for our birth goals. I wanted an all natural, unmedicated birth, and I know for a fact that without Sherrica that would not have happened. Her constant support (and massage for back labor) at every contraction, helped me get through labor and birth without pain medication. She also helped my husband support me the way I needed him to as well. If you are considering hiring a doula for your birth, you will not regreat hiring Sherrica. Her kindness, thoughtfulness, and love for this amazing transitional time in your life, will help you achieve the best intimate beginning you could hope for, for your new family.

I got my unmedicated VBAC!!!

After my second birth ended in a unplanned C-section I knew with my next birth I wanted to try a VBAC (vagina birth after cesarean).

I met Sherrica during her branding photo shoot. She was warm, encouraging, knowledgeable, personable , but very professional. I was sold on hiring her.

She respected my birthing plan and recommended Dr. Fauntleroy who was just as comforting and reassuring during my pregnancy and labor.

Sherrica was amazing. I truly believe  God led me to her. She didn’t allow me to give up either. She helped me focus my energy to get through our planned unmedicated birth. Her voice, words, & touch were more comforting than I can express.

She also helped my husband feel comfortable with what was happening. As they both tagged team to comfort my needs. I highly recommend the experience to anyone preparing for a baby.
