Kim was a TREASURE to us, as we prepared to welcome our firstborn! Her presence was reassuring, confident and as perfectly laid back or involved as we needed her to be depending on the moment. She took pandemic related safety measures seriously while also meeting us face to face for some outdoor prenatal sessions to help forge our connection. 

My waters opened quite a while before labor began, and throughout that time Kim was a solid emotional support for me. Then when labor came, she captured some priceless pictures for us on my husband's iPhone. Today is my daughter's half-birthday and I'm filling with gratitude for those memories!

Thoughtful, experienced, professional, warm, laid back. In summary, we LOVED working with Kim. When the time comes, I'd love to hire her for my next birth.

My husband and I decided to hire a doula for the birth of our second child, and were so lucky to find Kim. We immediately felt a connection with her during our first meeting- she was kind, knowledgeable and personable. And most importantly, a great listener/communicator. Kim provided a wealth of resources and support to prepare for labor. Her encouragement and guidance during early labor kept me feeling calm and strong, allowing me to progress through much of my labor at home (this was through phone/text- we had planned for her to physically come support me at home, but I was feeling good connecting with my own body and following my intuition at home with my family). When it was time, Kim met us at the hospital and helped create a calm and intimate atmosphere. She provided a great balance of physical and verbal support, and helped my husband do the same. I can still hear her saying “You’re doing it” in response to me saying “I can’t.” I ended up with the unmedicated birth I had hoped for and felt so powerful and strong!

We are so grateful for Kim’s gentle guidance throughout our journey to welcoming our son into this world.

We loved working with Kim Kovac as our doula throughout our third trimester, during the birth and after. We always felt heard, supported and advocated for throughout the twists and turns of our journey. Kim has a lovely presence and warmth; mixing knowledge, wisdom and know-how with gentle humor and a client-centered, strengths based approach. We would highly recommend her!

I will forever look back at the birth of our child in awe of my own power, in awe of life, and with the deepest gratitude for our doula Kim. She helped us create the loving space that my partner and I needed to bring our son into this world. Leading up to the birth, as we prepared together, Kim listened and supported my choices and built our confidence around the birthing experience. I was able to enter into labor at peace with the uncertainty of it all. She was so fully present with me during labor, in tune with my needs and adapting to each moment with grace, even when those moments weren’t graceful. She was a calm and steady guide. When my body trembled, Kim said “That’s your fire,” and I found the strength to continue. I would hope for every woman to have support from someone like Kim for their births.

We hired Kim as our doula for the birth of our second child. Kim was completely supportive of our needs and had lots of great suggestions before and during labor as well as postpartum. She was available for advice and support throughout the entire journey. She acted as my voice when I was having a hard time communicating. Her hands were there to keep me grounded and felt so healing. She was excellent and reading the room and held the space beautifully. I felt very supported and heard. I will forever be grateful to Kim for her presence during the birth of or son.

We knew that Kim was going to be part of our birth team the minute we met her. She has a calm and intuitive presence and has a deep curiosity, passion and respect for birth. During the prenatal visits, Kim helped us develop our birth wishes while drawing on her own experiences to help guide us through the uncharted waters. The feeling was supportive, joyful and casual, yet professional and rooted in best practices. I had a lot of questions about birthing positions for pain management as I was planning for a home birth. With her experience from acupressure therapy and the Yoga Way to Birth birthing class, Kim was able to confidently guide my husband and I through some helpful positions and touch therapy right in our living room - many of which we used during my labor! Kim not only served as a doula for me, but for my husband as well. She fully supported our wishes to have my husband be my primary support person but intuitively knew when to intervene during active labor to augment his efforts. After a beautiful home birth, Kim helped us with nutrition and hydration while honoring our first moments together as a family. She held my hand and we laughed together while the midwives sutured me and assessed our new baby. We felt like we gained a family member with Kim and we couldn’t recommend her enough!

When I think of the support I received from Kim, I am overwhelmed with gratitude.  Each time she visited me prenatally and in postpartum, she was incredibly supportive, thoughtful and sincere.  As someone who has also trained as a birth doula, I was very impressed with Kim's knowledge and professional approach.  She showed me warmth and connected with me in a way that allowed me to feel super comfortable.  In addition, she worked her butt off during my labor and delivery!!  Kim is as tough as she is sweet!  I would recommend her as a doula with a thousand shining gold stars.  She truly has a gift for this work.

First time parents with an identical twin pregnancy.  With no family in town and only my husband for support we ( I ) was terrified!  It was a serendipitous encounter where Kim and I were able to connect as momma to be and doula.  Kim went above and beyond to research twin labor, pain management, breathing and grounding techniques prior to my delivery date.  On my induction day, Kim was there as soon as we called for her.  She was my advocate for asking questions I forgot or didn't know to ask in the hospital.  A definite birth coach as she guided me through induced contractions reminding me that each one is closer to meeting my girls.  Kim was always one step a head of me, knowing when to readjust my pillows, when I needed support for pain and when to get up and move or use the birthing balls.  When it was time to push she was able to stay by my side in the operating room where she championed me to push push push and breathe until the babies made their debut.  Kim stayed with us until we were transferred to the recovery room and all set to begin our new journey as parents.  Kim is a compassionate intuitive birthing guide.  This is truly her calling!  I am so thrilled she played such a huge part in a very wonderful birth experience.  If we decide to expand our family I will definitely make sure Kim is my doula again!

Kim was an incredible addition to my birthing team. She kept all of my desires in mind during my daughter's birth and with her help I was able to deliver without any medical interventions. Kim was calm, patient, kind, and attentive in our pre-labor meetings and even more so during delivery. She coached me through every painful contraction, reminded me how to breathe, and showed me how to use the power of my body to birth my beautiful baby girl. She was amazingly attuned to me and my subtle cues, helping me move around the birthing room to minimize my discomfort. She coached me with kindness and positivity, she used massage and touch to calm me, and she distracted me from my doubts. I am so, so grateful for Kim's presence before and during my birthing experience. I highly recommend her services to anyone embarking on their birthing journey. Not only was Kim our wonderful doula, I now consider her part of our family!

Kim was an incredible support to us for the birth of our second baby!  We were also her first birth as a doula, though you would never have known it!  Kim went above and beyond to support me physically, emotionally and spiritually through the process, even bringing me cedar branches to the hospital.  Her touch was one one of the only things that kept me grounded during my fast and furious labor. She was always there when I needed her, but also so intuitive and respectful with my time with my husband and with our baby.  And thank god she was able to remember to take pictures when my baby came way faster than any of us expected!  I will always be grateful to her, and she'll be an incredible support to anyone bringing tiny humans into this world.
