My heart as a doula is to bring informational, emotional, and physical support to each woman and her birth team through her prenatal preparation, labor, birth and early postpartum. I look forward to getting to know my clients and understanding their needs, desires, birth plan/vision and want to work to help make the birth experience a positive and protected space. My fee includes two prenatal visits designed to build a relationship with you and your birth partner and to discuss your birth plan/vision, including desired comfort & pain relief measures for labor and birth. I offer 24/7 availability from 38 weeks on and attendance at birth from start to finish. I have experience with virtual birth support if hospital restrictions around Covid-19 prevent me from attending as an additional support person. I offer postpartum follow-up with two visits checking in to see how sleep, feeding, and adjustments are going once home.

Sheri was amazing! I can’t imagine what my experience would have been like without her support. She was a guiding light through a medical system that was entirely new to me, encouraging me to advocate for myself and helping me stay on track for the birth experience I wanted. When the time came, her calming presence was invaluable, and she instinctively knew exactly what comforting measures I needed throughout my labor without me ever having to ask. For my husband, Sheri provided guidance that allowed him to support me in ways that played to his strengths. It was such a special and intimate experience, and Sheri played an essential part in creating that experience for us.

Our little girl was born August 23rd, 2024. My husband and I wanted a doula for the birth since we both didn't have any experience with birth and labor. Hiring Sheri was the best choice! She had a ton of resources and tips of what we might need at the hospital and what to prepare for. For the birth, Sheri met us at the hospital for an induction and stayed with us all night until baby girl was born. She knew exactly what I needed in the thick of labor and also she helped my husband to help me. Sheri walked with me, massaged my back, helped moving to different positions, and offered endless encouragement. It was really comforting having Sheri with us who knew the hospital room and knew the tips and tricks of the hospital. Moments after baby girl was born Sheri took photos (with our permission) of those sweet first moments meeting our little one. I will treasure those photos forever! During our postpartum visits, it was so nice to talk about and process all the details of the birth again with someone who went through it all with us. Sheri again had resources for postpartum. I would and have recommended Sheri to anyone preparing for birth!

We had a truly wonderful experience with Sheri as our doula! From the moment my husband and I met with Sheri, we felt so comfortable and confident that we made the best decision choosing her to be by our side for the birth of our first child. We had been nervous about birth, but felt immediately reassured and less anxious knowing she would be there for us as extra support. Sheri continually went above and beyond to support us and provided lots of wise advice, knowledge and encouragement that made us feel more prepared and calm leading up to birth. She was consistently professional, reliable, and generous with her time. During my labor, Sheri was an incredibly comforting presence. Her calm and peaceful yet strong and confident demeanor is just what I was hoping for in a doula. My birth experience was as peaceful as I hoped it would be, and Sheri's involvement was a big part of that. She continued to support us postpartum as well, even processing birth with me, which rounded out the whole experience so beautifully. It is abundantly clear that Sheri genuinely cares about the well-being of her clients. We now consider her a special friend and feel so blessed to have had her a part of such a special day! We highly, highly recommend anyone choose Sheri as their doula!

We loved having Sheri as our doula. She helped me feel grounded through the ups and downs of labor.
She coached me through breathing through contractions, and kept me from panicking. She was a steady, calming presence through the whole labor and birth. I liked that Sheri was there to support my husband as well, giving him breaks to take care of himself and just being a calm voice that everything was unfolding as it should.
With her help I was able to achieve my goal of an unmedicated, natural child birth, of which I am forever grateful!

Sheri was the most incredible doula with whom I felt comfortable from the start. She was the strongest advocate for my partner and me, communicating with everyone in such a professional and personal way. We found so many expert connections through Sheri, as she knows the community well. She is so kind and comforting as a support person and our birth would not have been nearly as seamless or beautiful without her!

Sheri was such a joy to work with! She took the time to get to know me and every detail of my desires for my birth. She was very supportive in my birth space and helped me advocate for myself when I needed it. If you're looking for a doula I highly recommend Sheri!

Hiring Sheri as our doula was easily the best decision we made for my pregnancy and postpartum journey. From our first meeting with Sheri my husband and I immediately felt so comfortable and at ease. Through our prenatal meetings, Sheri helped us feel confident and empowered heading into labor. When I was unexpectedly induced early, Sheri kept me calm and positive. I truly had no idea what to expect from labor and didn’t know what kind of support I would need, but Sheri’s intuition was invaluable. She was there every step of the way and all of her suggestions and tools were perfectly timed to what I needed in that moment. I know I would not have been able to get through an unmedicated birth without her.
My postpartum journey had a few bumps in the road and Sheri was incredibly supportive and reassuring throughout it all. Her advice as a doula and fellow mother was so helpful for my husband and I in those first few weeks as parents. When my husband and I talked about the birth together, we just kept saying how grateful we were to have had Sheri there. She is calm, caring, and so knowledgable about birth. I really can’t imagine going through the birthing experience without her by our sides - we have already recommended her to friends who are expecting and will most certainly want to work with her again for any future babies! I highly recommend Sheri to anyone looking for a doula.

When I found out I was pregnant, Sheri was the first person I told after my husband. Sheri was an amazing support during the pregnancy and birth of our first child, I knew I didn't want to go though it without her for the second. Having Sheri as our Doula was the best decision we made for both births of our children. Sheri made me feel prepared, calm, and ready for our second birth. Knowing she would be there beside me brought me a lot of comfort. During the birth she was with me the whole time. She walked the halls with me, checked if I needed anything, answered my questions. She was the one who helped me relax getting an epidural. She helped me get out of my mind and stay calm in situations that made me anxious. My husband was there too, but Sheri was the one I turned to when I needed reassurance, emotional support, and support that can only come from a knowledgeable doula who is highly trained and able to support a mom during the birth process. Sheri was the strength I needed throughout our long induction. She brings a calmness and knowledge that can make the birth experience so much better. If you make one good decision about your birth experience, it would be having Sheri as your doula. It was the best decision we made for both our births.

Sheri was one of the doulas recommended to me after asking around on Facebook, and after using her services, I see why. We did an initial interview, and after I hired her, we met a few more times before I went into labor. She understands the importance of her work to the emotional (and physical) well-being of her clients, and is familiar with the scientific evidence of how doulas can help with the healthy outcomes for the mother (this reason was why I sought out a doula in the first place). Sheri is simultaneously friendly and professional without compromising the other, which I always see as a good sign, and was the biggest reason why I decided she was a good fit for me. Another reason I sought out a doula was because my baby's father wasn't involved, and I wanted someone to be there to provide care while going through contractions, potentially be a emotional outlet for myself, and be an advocate for me if necessary. After the birth, we met two times to talk about the experience and my new baby. She went above and beyond, including assisting my sister who joined near the end of laboring and letting me borrow good reading material. Obviously, I think she is great at what she does.

I write to offer a review and also express my gratitude for Sheri Joy.
Sheri provided perinatal support for my husband and me surrounding the birth of both of our daughters. Our first was born in August 2018; the second was born in March 2021. Our second birth was during COVID 19, and despite the need for communication to take place electronically, Sheri maintained a warm and comfortable environment. Unlike most professional communication on Zoom, Sheri managed to make things feel easy and casual, and she clearly expressed how the experience would be different in light of COVID protocols.
When it became clear that the hospital would not permit more than one support person, Sheri explained how she would adapt to electronic support. She explained creative ways she had participated in other births and discussed what we would want to do differently from our first birth experiences in light of the huge changes that were forced upon us by COVID.
In the end, my labor was so incredibly fast, I could not contact Sheri for video support before delivery. Even under those circumstances, she offered unbelievable service. Sheri shared her notes from our prenatal and post-partum visits, and she helped me ask the right questions to generate a timeline of my birth. I now have a beautifully written birth story for my baby book, and I wouldn't have known how to put it all together without Sheri's help.
I highly recommend Sheri Joy.

Choosing Sheri as our doula was one of the best decisions we made. She is calm and generous and extremely knowledgeable. She's also easy to talk to, which is important because talking about what you're afraid of can be scary and hard. Because we hired her while Covid numbers were still going up, our pre-birth meetings were all done virtually over Zoom. She listened carefully to us and offered helpful suggestions. She also asked lots of questions and follow-up questions and took detailed notes, which I loved because it meant that she really cared about figuring out who we are and what would help us the most. She takes her role as a doula seriously and she is really good at what she does.
Although the pre-birth meetings were all done via Zoom, we fully intended to have Sheri join us at the delivery. Unfortunately for us, because of worsening Covid numbers, the hospital changed the visitor policy just a couple days before I gave birth; only my husband would be allowed in with me, and not our doula. We were crushed to hear this. We questioned how much help a virtual doula could do, but Sheri was already several steps ahead of us with ideas and comforting suggestions. She explained how we could set up a laptop in the room so she could still be there with us. She was indeed on call and available the entire time I was at the hospital. She talked us through our worries and concerns while we were there, and introduced herself to all the medical personnel, making herself part of the team. She suggested position adjustments and gave us new ideas to try. She reminded us about things we might want to ask. And she provided constant encouragement. She's so good at what she does, that even when she was limited to virtual support, she was amazing. We can't recommend her highly enough.

Hiring Sheri as our doula was the best birth decision we made. Throughout our pregnancy and birth experience she was a support for me and my husband. The first time we met Sheri we knew from her calm demeanor, kindness, positive energy, and her knowledge of all things pregnancy and birth, that she would be a good fit for us as a doula. During the pregnancy Sheri was always there to support me and answer any questions I had. She did a wonderful job getting to know us, our birth preferences, and she helped prepare us for the birth experience. Throughout my labor and delivery Sheri was my rock. It was a long labor with many things that Sheri was able to give us information about so we could make informed decisions. Sheri's support was invaluable to my husband and I as we made our way through it. During labor Sheri was wonderful at giving ideas for comfort, empowering my husband and I, providing comfort, offering continuous positive support, and being a beacon of hope throughout the labor and delivery. Sheri's comfort and support will always be something I remember about my long labor as the thing that got me through it. We also had visits with Sheri after our baby was born. Sheri's support, care, and knowledge about postpartum is even more reason why she is such an amazing doula. I cannot reccomend Sheri enough. We highly reccomend her as a doula. She is the best decision we made about our birth experience.

We had an amazing experience with Sheri Joy as she journeyed with us through our first pregnancy. She met with us multiple times during the course of our pregnancy providing support, encouragement, and helping us learn various birthing positions prior to the big event so we would be prepared. She took special care to fully understand our desire to have a natural birth and to know what plan B, C, and D were in the event that a natural birth experience wasn't possible. Our labor went much quicker then anticipated and Sheri help guide our decision to head directly to the birth center where she met us. She had arrived ahead of us and help set up a peaceful and calm environment with candles and aromatherapy that we had picked out at our previous meetings. During labor she was a steady source of support for both my husband and myself. She was a beacon of peace through the whole experience and we feel SO blessed she was part of our team. We have recommended Sheri multiple times to friends and family and will most certainly invite her to be part of our birth team for our future babies.

We found Sherri to be a tender and knowledgeable doula that improved the birth experience for both me and my husband. She took the time to get to know us and our birth preferences including even going to one of my prenatal appointments. She also provided hands-on education and instruction in labor management to me and my husband during one of our sessions. She was always quick to respond when I had any questions or was wondering if I may be in labor. During the labor she was a gentle and calming presence that helped me deal with the painful, grinding force of powerful contractions. While the pain was still intense... Let's face it-only an epidural would take that away-- which I didn't get...I dealt psychologically with the pain way better than I did with my first child. After we had our son Sherri came by and checked in, which was reassuring. She also provided us a lot of information on resources that we could use to aid us on our journey. I highly recommend her as a doula.

Sheri was wonderful before and during our daughter's birth. We met Sheri when she presented about the role of a doula in our pregnancy and childbrith class. She demonstrated a calm and soothing demeanor and she was warm when we introduced ourselves at the end of class.
My husband and I had our first out-of-class meeting with Sheri at Camber in Bellingham. I was completely impressed by small things she did to make me feel comfortable--even then. For example, when we got up to leave, Sheri slightly moved the table to accomodate my pregnant stomach and make it easier for me to get out.
Weeks later, my water broke at 2 a.m. and we contacted Sheri at 4 a.m. We asked her to come to the hospital at 5. She was responsive to our text at 4 a.m. and responded to the hospital immediately after we asked. It was incredibly relieving to see her when she arrived.
Sheri had creative relaxation suggestions that varied from bringing flameless candles to using aroma therapy. During labor, she supported me with words and also offered excellent physical support--from keeping my body as clean as possible to repeating phrases I told her were particularly comforting. She even held my legs throughout my pushing.
My husband appreciated Sheri's calmness through labor and delivery.
