Post a testimonial for Jen Hoch, PCD(DONA)
6/29/2021
From the moment Jen entered our home, I felt like I could finally breathe! She came in, and I didn't have to explain a thing. She is fierce and incredible with babies AND parents. On her first day with us she immediately strapped on one of our twin babies and cooked me lunch. On other days, she offered a shoulder to cry on or offered advice or ideas on how to remedy literally any situation I brought to her. There was never a moment Jen didn't have an idea - whether baby related, parenting, or something about our 4 year old. She kept us in mind even when she wasn't with us with frequent check ins, compassion, or to send a photo of something we had been talking about and she found in a store. Our babies absolutely loved her and just about jumped out of our arms into hers. Thanks to her, we were able to breath, sleep, go for a walk, eat, shower, and take care of ourselves. I don't know what we would have done without Jen. I felt like Jen became part of our family and saying goodbye was hard!

This testimonial is long overdue. I have been meaning to write something to properly express just how wonderful Jen Hoch is. In August, 2018, our family of 3 became a family of 4. Our older daughter was only 18 months old when we brought the new baby home, and our already busy days became insane! With me working outside the home, we desperately needed extra help- enter Jen!! Jen was there from Day 1, and immediately made a huge impact.
While Jen was only supposed to be with us for a couple of months, we kept asking her to stay on. She was a regular fixture in our house until June, 2019- long after “newborn” days.
I felt immense comfort leaving the house for work, with Jen there to help.
In addition to all her day-to-day brilliance, Jen routinely went above and beyond. She often brought books & videos for the girls, and she has awesome art ideas (The Christmas craft that she “helped” my girls make for me now has a permanent home on our bedroom wall). And her meatloaf recipe!! Above all, Jen became a friend to my wife. I have learned that the time post-delivery can bring all sorts of challenges- way more than I would have known before becoming a parent. The fact that my wife gained such a valuable friendship, in addition to all of the work that Jen did for us, was incredible.
Even though we probably would have kept Jen forever, we knew that other families, especially those with newborns, needed her. However, we have on occasion called her back! I didn’t know this was an option, but when we’ve been in a jam, Jen has been so kind to make the effort to help us out.
It’s now over a year since Jen’s regular visits, and we still think of her often. In fact, she & my wife still chat! She is genuinely interested in our kids’ growth. It has taken me way too long to write this, but I didn’t want to put it off any longer! -Mike Anderson

Jen is amazing! My son really likes her and my little baby girl who is incredibly clingy took to Jen right away. I often would come downstairs and my little lady would be napping on Jen.
She not only helped me with the kids so I can have time to myself but also helped with laundry, dishes, meal prep and listened. She would take her initiative so I didn’t have to ask her to do those things. She’s easy to talk to and if there’s something different you want done then there’s no issue.
I found her incredibly professional and incredibly relatable.
For me it‘s important to have someone I trust and my kids trust and Jen is definitely a trustworthy doula. I highly recommend her.

Jen does a ton. Just having a baby-holder and diaper changer for the newborn was so helpful, and she was really great with our toddler. She would play with the toddler so I could get time with the baby, and would get the toddler lunch and put her down and get her up from naps. That gave me a chance to nap with the newborn and get some rest. Or she’d deal with the newborn for a few hours while I slept or dealt with the toddler. On top of all that, she’d get all the dishes done, do a few loads of laundry, take out the garbage, tidy up the toys. Our house always looks awesome when Jen has been over. Jen is also great to talk to about all of the frustrating parts of having kids. Lots of emotional support. Help at appointments.
So happy with Jen. The best part of having Jen is that she predicts what you need! You turn around and the toys are clean and the laundry is done and put away.
She’s a nice, normal person. She isn’t judgey. Easy to talk to, or not talk to. Great with the kids. Shows up on time. Reliable. Easy to get in touch with. Honestly, nothing for criticism. I love the days when she comes over!
