Sharon was an amazing help for us with our twins!  Can't recommend more highly, caring personality, easy to get along with.  So thankful for her help.

Sharon provided me with invaluable support during a time I needed it most. As a new mom, her caring nature coupled with her vast knowledge of newborns always made me feel as though both my baby and I were in the best of hands - including answering the many (many) questions I had each time we met. I can't thank her enough for all that she did for our family.

Our newborn twins came home in the Spring of 2019 after being born premature and in the NICU for about a week. Sharon helped us immensely in the transition of bringing home newborn twins. She helped coach me through breastfeeding challenges which seemed so daunting in the beginning. Also she took over hands-on care with ease so my husband and I could get some much needed rest. We were nervous having two little infants to care for, and Sharon reassured us, answered our questions and helped build our confidence as new parents. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her as a doula for any expecting parents!

Wow, how grateful we are for Sharon...  I do not want to think about how different things would have been.  Being hit with an oddly crippling post partum blues (apathy & exhaustion) we had no idea how to care for our 1st baby.  Sharon's years of expertise and sage advice guided us through a dark time.  Her gentle and reassuring presence was heart felt and kind.  Never judging, always helpful.  She was flexible with her hours in order to help us the best she could and for that we are forever grateful!

Sharon is a trustworthy doula who can be counted on to provide the care that each unique family needs.

Having Sharon regularly scheduled to feed and cuddle our baby in the early mornings helped to relieve my husband so he could work and helped me maintiain a regular sleep schedule.

She communicated with us often and was flexible enough to fit us in on some last-minute requests.

She also helped by doing chores around the house and running errands.

Sharon was key to our success as new parents. With less stress, we as a couple maintained a postitive relationship as well.

Whether you are becoming a parent for the first time or the fourth time, Sharon has the education and experience to support your family.

Sharon is an absolutely incredible birth doula, I truly can't imagine my husband and I going through the birth of our first son without her.

We initially met Sharon at her birthing class with Calgary Birthing Essentials (highly recommend). After our first few classes we knew that Sharon's knowledge, experience and calming demeanor would make a fantastic doula. Not only was she amazing she completely exceeded our expectations. She went above and beyond to make us feel prepared, informed and comfortable before, during and after the birth of our son. She was very easy to get a hold of and answered any and every question that we threw her way.

My birth did not go as I imagined it would. My water broke before labour and I ended up being induced only to have a C-Section after 12 hours of laboring. A experience that could have easily been scary and overwhelming. She made sure we were informed on all of the decisions being made, and stuck by my side through it all including holding my hand my entire C-Section. She made all the difference in making my first birthing experience as special as it was. All while capturing beautiful moments on camera for my husband and I to remember forever.

She is worth every single penny and I will be using her again when the time comes.

p.s. She should also be given credit for keeping my sweet husband on his two feet throughout the entire process.

We hired Sharon to do in home birthing classes at first, then found out she was also a doula and hired her to be there with us during delivery. Sharon was a great support through my labour and captured many of our first moments with our new baby which we would have never got if it wasn't for her.
We also had Sharon doing a cpl night shifts a week and some day shifts postpartum to help me catch up on some sleep and have peace of mind Baby was in excellent hands.

having Sharon in our home was a great feeling knowing she has had experience with over 400 babies. Sharon kept us calm with her ease of caring for our baby and was able to answer any and all questions that we as new parents have.

We highly recommend Sharon as a doula and for postpartum care.

Sharon was recommended to me by a friend from my book club and I am so glad she did! Delivering a baby for the first time can feel very scary because there are so many unknowns. Putting in place a support sustem is the single most important thing you can do to help prepare yourself for those unknowns. Sharon was that support person on my team and she was a game changer. My husband, Tyler ofcourse was wonderful in supporting me however he was also in the same boat- we both had never been through a delivery. Sharon has such wonderful energy. She is calm, reassuring, incredibly knowledgeable, caring...she is the complete package. Sharon has helped us deliver three babies and having her support has been instrumental in having the deliveries that we were hoping for. With Sharon, I know that we can tackle any obstacle that arises. Without Sharon's support leading up to, during and after my deliveries, the outcome could have been so different. I feel blessed to have found such an incredible doula. Sharon will always be a special part of my birth stories.

I strongly recommend hiring Sharon as anyone's doula. She is the second person that I call after I find out that I am pregant.

Sharon is amazing! Not only did she teach our prenatal class,  she has also been helping us out after the birth of our little guy.  Sharon is very knowledgeable and easy going.  We have had her over several times overnight to help take care of our little one between feedings so that I can get some sleep.  As we are in the midst of a pandemic,  she has been very accommodating and follows strict hygiene and wears a mask and gloves the whole time.  Our little one loves Sharon cuddles and I appreciate all the help and conversation during feedings.  I would recommend Sharon to anyone.  She's worth her weight in gold! :)

Sharon is why our birth was absolutely perfect. I knew I wanted a doula for support during my first birth, and I am so glad that the stars aligned for to work with Sharon. Not only was she wonderful as a doula scheduling extra at home visits to get to know myself and my husband, but she also was an exceptional birth educator. My husband and I enrolled in her birth classes to get to know Sharon better and to learn about birth, and we truly learned more than we ever could have hoped for. When the birth came around, Sharon was prepared and the best support for both myself and my husband. I did not use any pain medications during labour and delivery and know this likely wouldn't have been possible with the knowledge from Sharon's birth classes and her guidance and pressure point skills during labour. Not only am I extremely grateful for her, but my husband was too as she gave him the tools during an emotionally stressful situation to support both his and my wellbeing. We cannot thank Sharon enough for the positive experience we had delivering our beautiful baby girl into this world.

Sharon that makes you feel completely at ease when you meet her. I hadn’t planned on hiring a Doula, until I was midway through My birth and babies class, of which she was the facilitator. I was due in just a couple months, yet she took us on. Fast forward  To the big day- Sharon was called at 6am support me through well... a pregnant woman’s worst nightmare- back labour!!!!! My plans for a birth centre or home birth we’re changed due to this factor, but having Sharon there, despite going to the hospital - made things so more manageable. My husband, Scott, was so grateful for her presence as I was struggling! Sharon helped me work through each contraction, and prepare mentally for the journey ahead. My 30 hour long labour, and a C section to boot was intense!!! But Sharon honestly kept my head in the game, offering me popsicles, telling jokes, smiling and keeping eye contact with me encouraging me, helping me get comfortable, making light of difficult situations while also holding space for the moments that were not easy. But I cannot imagine what it would have been like without the support of a Doula. Sharon stayed with me until my daughter Stella was born and I was in the recovery room. 1:00 am the next day. Her presence made the difference for both Scott and I. Her knowledge and her ability to work through situations knowing that even if the outcome is not what we envisioned- she would offer her support and help it feel special and beautiful. Sharon took gorgeous photos of our journey, and our daughter minutes from when she was born. I am so so grateful to Sharon, and would highly recommend her for her courses and her Doula services.

My husband and I met Sharon through her birthing classes with Calgary Birthing Essentials.  It was there that we had asked her to be our Doula because we felt her personality was the perfect match for us.  Sharon is friendly, calming, and keeps things light. Leading up our daughters birth, Sharon came to our house to ensure we were ready and to see if we had any questions before I went into labour.  When I went into labour, Sharon gave me tips and tricks to help deal with labour pain and push my baby out.  She had a calming force in intense situations, which we really appreciated. After our daughter was born, Sharon once again came to our house to ensure we were surviving and to see if we had any questions.  Throughout the process, Sharon replied promptly to phone calls or texts for any questions we had.

My husband and I had a postiive birthing experience and we know that it wouldn't have been as great if Sharon wasn't there to help support us. We will definitely be using Sharon again for our second child!

Sharon Loose is an excellent birth doula, and I am so thankful to have had her support with my VBAC. Sharon’s 20+ years of experience and her authentic and relaxed demeanor made her an easy choice for us. She spent a generous amount of time getting to know us and understanding what we wanted from a doula. She also provided us with several helpful ideas that were relevant to our needs, including getting the report from my previous delivery, requesting an anesthesiology consultation due to my previous adverse reactions to some medications, and getting chiropractic care to optimize the position of the baby and my readiness for labor. Touching base with Sharon during early labor allowed me to stay at ease, knowing that I had the expertise of someone who had attended hundreds of births. My active labor began in the middle of the night, and again it was so reassuring to be able to call her and know that she was on her way. Once Sharon arrived, I was more relaxed and able to just focus on the contractions. She remained attuned to me throughout the labor, never interfering with my rhythm, which then led to me being 8cm upon arriving at the hospital. At that point, Sharon found a birth ball and encouraged me to continue laboring off of the bed to allow gravity to help things progress. It was getting harder to shift positions, but once I was on the ball I felt more relaxed and in control of riding the contractions again. Since I was trying for a medication-free delivery, her help in finding an optimal position to keep using my breathing and movement strategies was so meaningful. She also did a great job liaising with medical staff. The photos Sharon took were really appreciated, as they connected me to parts of the birth that I wasn’t able to witness. Talking with her post-delivery also helped me to process my experience after having worked so hard for the intervention-free VBAC that I wanted. Sharon’s expertise and genuine care are truly invaluable.

I would highly recommend Sharon for both her prenatal classes and as a doula.  We were lucky enough to experience her in both cases and were so grateful for her help and expertese!  She is very relaxed, and yet passionate about helping women and couples through the birthing experience to make it an empowering experience (rather than a frightful one).  Our plan for a natural birth was thwarted by compliactions and having Sharon with us through the hospital process was most likely the only factor that kept us sane! It was a very long induction and we were grateful to have her consistant support and guidance through what became a somewhat emotionally trying experience.  As a postpartum doula, we called on her several times for advice and support and she came through everytime keeping us calm as we learned to become parents.  We will certianly hire her for the birth of our next child!

From the moment we first met with Sharon, both my husband and I knew we wanted her to be present for the birth of our first baby. She has a very calm demeanor, which was very important to us, but she also has many years of experience. Sharon also was very keen on understanding what was specifically important to us during the labor and birth. During labor, the birth and then post partum Sharon was so supportive to both my husband and I. Some specific points that I found Sharon very helpful for:

1.  i definitely labored longer at home before going to the hospital. Had it just been my husband and I, we would have gone much too early. Having Sharon at home and knowing when to go was so helpful.

2.  Sharon helped me with labor positions to get the process moving. I wanted to curl up in fetal position for my contractions, but she convinced us to move to the shower and move around, and therefore I do think it helped labor progress faster.

3.  Having someone knowledgeable and experienced in the room when a nurse or doctor wasn't present was so comforting. She definitely knows the in/outs of the labor/delivery unit!

4. When things got tough and werent going as planned, Sharon was an excellent coach. once in the delivery room, things were not progressing as they should of, and she was right there helping me (and my husband) through it. Had she not been there, mentally I don't think I (or my husband) would have handled the situation very well.

5. Sharon was so helpful with pain management options. Again, when things weren't going as planned and the doctor offered some options, both my husband and I were exhausted by that point. She took a moment to stop and discuss pros and cons of options, to ensure we were making the right choice for us.

6. Sharon was very supportive post partum, especially helping with breastfeeding issues

I would definitely recommend Sharon!!

We had the pleasure of Sharon coaching us through private prenatal classes in our home, as well as her support as our birth doula for the birth of our first baby. I can’t say enough positive things about our experience with Sharon. The prenatal classes were extremely informative and Sharon was able to connect with us in a way that made my husband and myself feel heard and understood. We couldn’t have gotten this experience going any other route. For the birth of our son we experienced the exact same superior level of care and understanding. We felt so comfortable in a situation that we had no control over and had no idea what to expect, and this was all because Sharon was there. From the small stuff to the big stuff, Sharon is a huge part of the reason that our birth experience/story was so positive. I have said time and time again we couldn’t have done it without her. From showing my husband where to park, to helping me communicate what I was feeling to nurses, to helping me through a quick and intense birth and to taking the best pictures I didn’t even know I needed, she was amazing. I have said numerous times before that I (& we) couldn’t have done it without her!

We initially hired Sharon for prenatal classes, and felt so at ease with her knowledge and expertise that we then hired her as our birth doula. We were not disappointed! My labour was long and Sharon was there every step of the way.  While waiting to go to the hospital, Sharon gave us a series of exercises to do and other suggestions for my husband and I to use to manage pain. While we will never know, I think the birth would have gone differently with a different outcome if it weren't for Sharon! We were very happy with her services and pre and post partum support.  We felt comfortable right away with her during our classes and she maintains a good rapport with meetings before to ease any anxieties we may have had.  We also received priceless photos of our sons birth that we can never recreate and are beyond grateful for them!

I am happy to talk to anyone about our experience with Sharon! You can't go wrong if you choose her.

I took prenatal classes with Sharon and was also fortunate to have her by my side for the birth of my daughter. It was due to her vast experience and exceptional support that I was able to have the birthing experience that I'd hoped for. Her knowledge and advice helped me to make informed decisions and she challenged me just as we had agreed. Following the birth Sharon visited me in the hospital and then provided great post partum support - everything from breastfeeding advice to picking up supplies and giving baby cuddles. I also took part in her moms' group sessions and met a wonderful group of women and heard from some great speakers on a variety of topics.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Sharon to any mom-to-be. She one of the most experienced Doulas in the city, has fantastic knowledge of the birthing processs, and can read a room and sense your needs like no other!
