When I had my first pregnancy my friend suggested a doula would be a great help in my delivery. Our money was slim, so I didn't use one. It was not a great delivery at all and I desperately wished I had been accompanied by a doula. Being that it was my first delivery I hadn't a clue that what I was experiencing in transition was normal and I let them give me an epidural which in turn caused me a year of various types of pain. If I had a doula there I would have had an amazing experience without a doubt. Since then I've had wonderful deliverues with the help of a doula. Calandra was an amazing doula! I can't say enough good about her. I've never before had such an attentive doula. Calandra took the time to get to know me, my story, and took the time to learn what I expected from her. She continually surprised me with her empathy and support during my pregnancy, delivery and new born phase. Shes worth investing in the whole package; I'm so thankful she was there for me. She massaged my back in contractions and wasn't offended when I made abrupt requests in labor. She continued to find comfortable positions for me to Labor in and was light hearted through it all. If you're like I was the first time and hesitant to spend the money on a doula, let me please encourage you to invest in yourself. If I hadn't had that epidural I wouldn't have torn miserably from pushing too hard since I couldn't feel anything and I wouldn't have had a year of back pain from the injection. I highly recommend you hire Calandra Freeman as your doula, you'll be so thankful you did.
