Attends hospital births? All Hospitals
Most mothers will still labor at home during early labor and need support to know what is normal labor progression. I like to come work with you at home and make your transition into active labor and to hospital smoother. Once at the hospital I will work with staff to continue supporting you till your baby is born and your family is settled in for bonding and rest.

Birth centers are a great option in our area. I still come to you and help your labor progress at home before going to the birth center. Most moms find the extra support a comfort and helpful to transition into active labor. We had Katie help us with the birth of our first child, and she was such a blessing!

We originally were planning on a home birth, but partway through the pregnancy had to change plans to a hospital due to complications. The two visits we had with her before the birth were extremely helpful. She gave us handouts that helped my husband and I think through the decisions we needed to make, and she explained in detail what the hospital would be like.

When I started having contractions, Katie helped me figure out if it was really labor and when it was time to go to the hospital. Once there, she knew exactly what to do. She explained anything we didn't understand, and communicated my wishes to others when I couldn't.

She directed me into positions to progress labor, and helped my husband know how to support me. After our baby was born, she helped initiate breastfeeding.

After we were home, she called to check in frequently, and answered all my questions. She also gave us a timeline of the birth with fun memories she had written out!

Katie helped make our first birth a wonderful experience, and we are so thankful for everything she did! We highly recommend her!

Katie was such a blessing to us. Pregnancy and birth are such vulnerable times for women. I was originally not going to have anyone other than midwives and my husband when in labor. Over halfway in, I changed my mind so options were a little limited. But Katie was so kind and caring, I'm grateful for all she did for us and that we went with her. Labor and delivery were difficult for me, with many unexpected hoops, the biggest one being a less than ideal pelvis shape that hindered baby greatly, but Katie quietly persisted in helping me have the out of hospital, medication free birth I wanted. She kept me moving through positions and gave me much encouragement. My favorite part looking back now is that she asked people to pray for us after things weren't going as expected in labor. Highly recommend Katie as a peaceful presence with a side of determination. Husbands are great support but it's a blessing to have someone else around who understands and can give your spouse a much needed break if labor lasts hours!

We had a good experience working with Katie! She was very thorough and detailed on her visits before the birth. During labor, she was very helpful with calming me down and helping me to breathe through my contractions which were very intense. She had lots of tips and tricks in her bag and was ready to try different things to help me cope. I doubt whether I would have had my dream birth, unmedicated and intervention free, without her.

I met Katie during the labor of my second child - a grueling 24 hour v-bac trial by fire that showed me how wonderful having a doula could be! Since then, Katie has assisted me (and my husband) in two more births and each time, she has amazed us with her knowledge, ease, and compassion. Katie has good tips and ideas about how to make labor progress, contractions more bearable, and lessen pain. Through it all, she has been a helper, mother figure, and mentor to me. She also takes wonderful notes and has typed up my birth story each time and given it to me - I treasure these so much! I can't recommend Katie enough! As long as I'm having babies, I'll be having Katie help bring them into the world!

We absolutely loved having Katie at our birth! She was so knowledgeable and has a very calm presence about her!

She not only coached me, but was able to suggest ways for my husband to support me in labor as well, creating the best team ever! Katie was great at getting me to move into different positions during labor to help the baby's progress.

My husband and I both agreed that we will be hiring Katie for all of our future births as well!

Having Katie as my doula was arguably the best decision I made for my daughter's birth assistance. During pregnancy Katie gave me many resources and suggestions for maintaining comfort and health, positioning baby, and preparing mentally and spiritually for labor. She was readily available for a text or call anytime I had questions. At 35 weeks she came to our house to meet my husband, give us a packet on breastfeeding (which I still refer to now at 6 wks postpartum), and practice comfort measures for labor. During labor Katie arrived early on and was right by my side through a long night of labor. She had countless comfort measures readily available and I truly believe my labor was more manageable and calm because of Katie's presence and help. I had to unexpectedly be transferred to the hospital for a c-section, which was still made better by the fact that Katie escorted us there and was so supportive through this emotional process. During postpartum Katie has checked in with me weekly (sometimes more), encouraged me, and reminded me that there is nothing more important than taking care of my daughter and my recovery during this time. She came a week after the delivery to check in with us on breastfeeding and recovery, and also gave us a written documentation of the labor and birth events, which I will treasure for the rest of my life. I was so thankful for this, as I didn't have the mental energy to write it all down myself. I would recommend Katie to any expecting mother and cannot imagine going through labor without her. Thank you, thank you, thank you, Katie for everything you have done to create a confident and beautiful entrance into motherhood for me.

Hello,

My name is Kaylee and Katie helped during my labor as extra support. I tell my family every time we talk about the birth that I couldn't have done it without her. Before delivery Katie was super helpful with staying in contact and ensuring I had the questions to everything I was asking! My favorite thing that she did that was a surprise was document the entire thing through her eyes and I love being able to go back and look at it because I don't remember much. She's also still super helpful after birth too. Most definitely will be useing her again when the next kiddo comes around!

Thank you so much, Katie for being my support person!

Katie was such a huge help during my whole pregnancy, labor, and postpartum. Even though my labor didn't go as planned she did everything she could to keep me on track with my birth plan and supported me the entire way. I feel that having Katie as a doula helped me be a more educated mom. The classes, along with advice given though each stage Katie helped me be more confident in my journey of parenthood! I recommend all mothers  to have her has a doula.

Katie is a fantastic doula! My husband and I met with Katie in two prenatal appointments to talk about both a labor and birth plan AND a postpartum care plan.  Katie had forms that would help us with the planning for both circumstances.  It was helpful to talk through all of these things ahead of time, and it gave us the opportunity to get to know Katie before labor and delivery.  I also added a few prenatal massages to the doula contract, which provided wonderful relief and relaxation at the end of the third trimester.

Katie is very knowledgeable.  She is trained in the Spinning Babies technique; we practiced some of the positions together prior to labor, and then used them during labor.  She has several labor balls and recommended positions that helped with pain relief and positioning baby during labor.  Katie also offers the option to use essential oils during labor— she helped me out a lot when I got nauseous by bringing lemon oil (and at a later time, peppermint oil) for me to sniff.

My labor was rather difficult (and long), and Katie was present and supporting me the whole time.  My husband said that Katie really helped him to feel safe and stay calm when everything was moving fast at the end.  On top of that, we enjoyed her company when the going was slow earlier in the day.  I haven’t had Katie for postpartum doula services, but I am sure that she provides wonderful support.
Katie came for a postpartum visit and checked that breastfeeding and baby care were going fine.  She provided a detailed birth and labor narrative that she had written up, which I can put in my kiddo’s baby book! I’m amazed how Katie was able to record all those details while always being present with me.  She has this doula thing down! J

Bottom line: Katie is very knowledgeable and experienced, caring and supportive. I highly recommend her!
