My husband and I had a wonderful experience with Mayra as our doula. We knew we'd need extra support throughout the entire process, but she provided more care and guidance than we could have ever imagined. She was very communicative and checked in often in the weeks leading up to the birth, and she was a great sounding board when we had to start making various Plan Bs and Plan Cs once early labor began.

Once we arrived at the hospital, though, Mayra became an integral part of our labor and delivery experience. I had a very long labor at the hospital, and she was an awesome coach the entire way through--she didn't simply take over, but instead coached my husband the entire time and created a very team-oriented environment while I labored. During very tense moments, including a difficult exchange with a doctor who had poor bedside manner, she was a quiet force, giving my husband the space to be the primary advocate in the room but also talking through with him all our options based on her deep knowledge and experience. All that, and she stood by my side and opposite him for four long hours of pushing!

We can't thank Mayra enough for her support--she was just the type of person we needed with us through this process and are very grateful for her.

Mayra was amazing!!  This was our first pregnancy (plus COVID times Oct 2021) so she was informative and did a great job prepping my husband and I before the delivery.  The day of my labor, my husband did such a great job at home with Mayra's guidance over the phone that although we had planned for her to come to our home we actually did well on our own and met her once we were ready to go to the hospital. She kept close contact with us all day and once in the hospital we could not have done it without her. In my mind I didn't want an epidural but if I needed the epidural at some point I would ask for it and Mayra always supported my/our decisions. But her techniques and guidance helped me get thru all the pain without it which was MY goal! We loved that Mayra was open to what OUR labor plan goals were and able to assist us in that. Truly she's the best! Even the nurses recognized what a great doula she was; they said "Wow you're doula was great, she actually did more than just talk at you"! I highly recommend and plan to use her for any future pregnancies :)

We worked with Mayra for the birth of our first child. Mayra was exactly what we needed. - she was knowledgeable, empathetic, and supportive. She helped empower my husband in the birthing process. She even stayed overnight with us at the hospital. Our baby girl was born on Mayra's birthday!! We trusted Mayra so much that we worked with her postpartum as well. I wish we still lived near Mayra, so we could still work with her!

Mayra was such a gift to our birth experience. Mayra supported us through the birth of our first child in summer 2020, a time full of uncertainty when doulas were just being let back into delivery rooms. We so appreciated Mayra's approach of nonjudgment, kindness, and a real focus on what our personal values and needs were. Mayra has a special intuition and was so supportive to me during labor, knowing that I appreciated touch and was able to see when I had contractions coming and offer counterpressure. She was gentle in her offerings of options based on what she had gathered we might need, never pushing but being a strong figure and advocate for us. She was a calming presence to my husband through the late stages of labor and was so attentive to everything, even making sure we got a few photos of our first moments meeting our new baby. We are so grateful for her role in this incredible moment in our lives.

Husband/birth partner here. We hired Mayra for the birth of our first child. While my wife has nothing but wonderful things to share about Mayra, I thought I'd offer my perspective. I was initially skeptical about hiring a doula as it's not something anyone in our families has 'needed'. That said, hiring Mayra was one of the best decisions we'd ever made, for one of the biggest days of our lives. She's like family. She is super responsive. And she has such a deep understanding of the birth process, options, techniques, positions, etc. She is there to help and she was a fantastic support person to lean on during the process and during labor/delivery. She worked with us to achieve the birth my wife wanted, and she was an advocate for us to the nurses and doctors, allowing me to focus primarily on my wife. Now, it's hard for me to imagine not wanting to have a doula if/when more children come. And Mayra would be the first call we would make. Absolutely cannot recommend her enough.

She was just so human, she wasn't trying to sell herself to us. Prior to my labor, she helped me understand what would be happening and what I needed to look out for. During my birth, she helped my partner be the main person supporting me, something I really desired. After our birth, she has been immensely helpful with random questions that all brand new parents will have and always knew the answer. She is our forever doula ans friend. I would recommend her to ANYONE looking for birthing services!

Mayra was fantastic to work with for the birth of our first child. She has a very calming and nuturing presence which helped us relax throughout the process. Mayra was always supportive of helping me achieve my goals and didn't judge or push a different agenda. She helped us feel informed throughout the entire experience. We also appreciated that she visited us in the weeks following the birth to check in on us postpartum and offer advice on eating and sleeping tips. I would definitely recommend her to friends and family.

We loved having Mayra present as my doula through the pregnancy, birth, and post partum period of our first child. She gave us a lot of piece of mind with her great advice leading up to birth, and brought us a lot of comfort and help during my medicated vaginal hospital delivery. After the birth, she made herself available to help me with nursing, bottle refusal, and sleep problems even after our daughter was several months old. Can't recommend her enough!

Mayra is the best! I was working with another doula and had to part ways very close to my delivery date. I had my first and only virtual meeting with Mayra the day before my water broke. We talked in depth about my birth plan and she answered all of my questions. I felt really good at that initial meeting because she was very knowledgeable. During labor, Mayra did everything we discussed (shower, TEN unit, etc.). She guided my mother who was in the delivery room on what to do. She was very calm and helped me get to 9.5 cm dilated before I decided to get epidural. A few weeks after birth, Mayra came to my house to check on me and the baby. I am forever grateful for her and still will text ever so often with questions!

My husband and I hired Mayra as our doula last year. And it was the best decision we could have made especially in the middle of Covid. Mayra is very knowledgeable and has so much experience helping families during birth. She was the extra support I needed for my first baby. She helped me feel at ease with the process and walked us through from beginning to end. She listened to my wants and helped me advocate for them in the hospital. She followed up with us and also assisted with breastfeeding techniques which helped me feel more confident in my breastfeeding journey. I would definitely recommend Mayra as a doula for any family thinking about it. It's worth it and more.

I am so grateful for my experience with Mayra.  From the first call we had with her, I knew she was going to play an important role in my birthing experience. She was there for every question or concern I had before labor and delivery and made me feel confident in my birthing plan and abilites. She was there for my partner and I and helped us both feel as preparaed as we could be going into the hospital. I could not imagine my birth without her, and will definitely be reaching out once it's time for baby number two :)

I was lucky to have Mayra support me through my first birth. I had a last-minute induction and she provided me every kind of support along the way. Despite the unexpected induction, I am certain I was able to have the birth experience I wanted and to feel empowered because of Mayra's guidance. She was always kind, respectful, calm, nonjudgmental, and very knowledgeable. She clearly has expertise with supporting birth. My husband also felt extremely supported by Mayra throughout the entire labor and delivery. If you have the chance for Mayra to be your doula, jump on it!!
