Post a testimonial for Megan Davis, PCD (NAPS/Yaya Doulahood)

Megan provided us with great guidance during the 3rd week of our child's life, when things became overwhelming raising a preemie. She nurtured the baby in the night while we caught up on sleep. In the morning she provided insight into how our baby preferred to burp, breastfeeding tips, pacifers that would better suit him, how to give him his first real bath, good white noise options, the importance of a red nightlight and essential information about when to respond to his noises in the night, and when not to. We were grateful for her knowledge and appreciated her care, looking back, we would have loved to have hired her sooner.

Having Megan's support during the weeks after our daughter's birth was wonderful. I had an unplanned C-section and several other obstacles that made the postpartum period more challenging that we'd anticipated, including difficulties with latching and nursing. Megan was calm, positive, and nurturing throughout, always offering gentle, helpful guidance. She was on-time, reliable, positive, and a joy to have around. I'll miss her support, but I'm very grateful that she has helped our family as we take these first tentative steps together. I'd highly recommend Megan to anyone expecting a new baby.

I had the pleasure to have Megan Davis as my postpartum doula for two weeks. After an emergency c-section giving birth to my late-term preemie, I was exhausted but I didn't realize how overwhelmed I would be with taking care of a newborn. I had taken a series of classes prior to my daughter's birth, but none of them completely prepare you for what it will be like once your baby arrives. The sleep deprivation and baby blues were challenging for me and when my husband returned to work Megan was a huge part of my success to transitioning to taking care of my daughter on my own. Megan is a great listener and non-judgemental. She both helped me to feel more confident in taking care of my daughter and was emotionally supportive to make me feel less anxious. She is a wealth of knowledge and provided many insightful tips and resources for me. As a mom of two children she can empathize with the challenges of being a new mother. Without asking she would make sure I was doing things to take care of myself, making me lunch, refilling my water bottle and accompanying myself and my daughter on short walks in the neighborhood. I highly recommend Megan to anyone in search of a postpartum doula. She is fabulous.

Megan is a fantastic postpartum doula. She'll definitely be the first person we call if and when we have another baby. She provided our family with much needed support through the nights after bringing our first baby home. We instantly trusted Megan to take care of our little guy. She provided invaluable support and guidance for our family. We loved Megan's warm demeanor, always positive vibe, and thoughtful approach to supporting our family. She didn't just get the job done, she went above and beyond expectations to understand our needs, provide coaching to us, and to support our baby. She also did all the little things well like keeping the house tidy, giving us detailed recaps on the night, and providing helpful tips about baby gear. We're very grateful to Megan for her support and would highly recommend her to anyone in need of a postpartum doula.

Megan was just what I needed. I had been having some issues as far as managing my time and feeling like such a complete zero. Megan came in and was very calm and had it together. I started out as a basket case and by the time she had left, I was a lot calmer myself. She made me feel really good about myself as a new mommy!

I really enjoyed working with Megan. She helped us out enormously after our first child arrived, and she helped us out again after the second came. We ran into some unexpected complications the second time around, and Megan saved the day. She got us caught up on laundry and cleaning, made sure I could sleep, shower, eat, and drink. She was also very quick to help me get treated for mastitis—in my baby fog, I’d been ignoring the symptoms. I’m so relieved that she helped me realize what was going on before my mastitis got really bad. Another benefit of working with her is that she is a great listener, which is really helpful in the period immediately post-partum. Megan is excellent!

Megan helped our family out when we welcomed the arrival of our son in May 2012. I really liked Megan's approach to helping families in that she is quite gentle in her approach and very knowledgeable about baby and mother care. She helped educate me in many areas of infant care including baths, sleep, day to day needs, behaviors and also helped with my own care including breastfeeding, brust pumping, getting appropriate rest, and nutrition. Megan always would sit down and talk with my husband and myself about our experience and how things were going. She was a very good listener and provided advice that was well needed. I would highly recommend Megan as a post-partum doula.

Megan came when our daughter was about 9 weeks old. We were concerned that Maggie would not start taking bottles by the time I returned to work. Megan was very encouraging, and gave us a lot of helpful input, including alternatives to bottle-feeding. She answered a lot of other questions that came up while she was here, and made some suggestions that have helped us all get a lot more sleep! I have recommended her to several new parents.

We are so glad we hired Megan. She helped us through those overhwelming first few weeks, offering support for lactation, teaching us how to wear the baby, talking us through baby massage and tummy time and baths. When we napped, she watched the baby and, to our surprised delight, did laundry and dishes. She has a great a sense of humor and offers support by being relaxed and encouraging. Megan's also very prompt answering questions by e-mail and shares lots of resources.

We were referred to Megan through NAPS (postpartum doula referral service) and she worked for us over a three month period. She came to our home three times a week during the day and helped us with our twins who were five weeks old when she started. We were looking for help not only with childcare but also as support for us as first-time parents.
Megan’s support during this critical time enabled us to get our bearings as new parents and kept stress to a minimum. We were very happy with Megan’s promptness, attention to detail and willingness to pitch in and do whatever was needed. As new parents, we appreciated her sharing her perspective as a parent herself as well as information gathered through her professional training and contacts.
Some of the things Megan helped with specifically follow:
-Baby care and play while new mom napped
-Babies baths
-Shopping assistance
-Referral to parent’s groups
-Accompanied to parent group to help with one twin
-Laundry
-Dishes
-Prepared healthy snacks for new mom
-Research and followup on questions we asked
I would recommend Megan for any new parents who are seeking doula care.
