Natasha was exactly the support I needed for the birth of my second child. My first experience (with no Doula) was less than favorable.
After 3 years, I was ready to have my second and last child but this time I was determined to be better informed and create a support team around me. I got a new doctor and found Natasha as our birth doula. She helped to validate the feelings around my first experience and genuinely wanted to help support my “redemption” journey.
Natasha has a very calming presence and helps you arrive at an answer that is best for you and your family. There are a lot of unknowns with birth and postpartum so you can’t prepare for everything but she helped me feel confident about the approach so my husband and I could tackle whatever was thrown at us.
I didn’t have a birth plan the first time (big mistake) and having one this time around helped tremendously - everyone in the room used that to kick into gear while I worked through contractions. I ended up (physically) leaning on Natasha a lot during the contractions because she had a very calming presence. I was adamant about trying different positions to push and Natasha also helped me stick to that original plan using a birthing bar, etc. A few weeks later Natasha brought me a full timeline of my birth journey in case I wanted it for future reference.
It was priceless for me to have Natasha’s experience and support. She also provided lots of local recommendations for in-person birthing classes, pelvic floor therapy, etc.
I got my redemption story but I didn’t get there alone. This is a woman’s Super Bowl and I’m a huge advocate of not going in without preparation and the support of a team who you trust. I fully recommend her especially if a compassionate and calming bedside manner is important to you. Good luck mamas and future mamas!
