I was so lucky to find Dana at 33 weeks pregnant -- my plan was to give birth at a birthing center with a midwife team (I had switched to them at 28 weeks) and they told me since I'm a first time mom I needed to hire a doula - I panicked a bit since I was 33 weeks when they told me that information and I wasn't sure how I could find someone with that short notice until I found Dana!!
my birth center plan turned into the hospital 4 days prior to my due date due to high blood pressure, Dana supported me through that change (I have hospital anxiety and was stressing!) she checked in on me every day to see how my blood pressure was until I went into labor on my exact due date
as a first time soon to be mom I had no idea what I was in for, my labor ended up being 27 hours and Dana stayed the entire time and made the room so cozy with electric candles and fairy lights She made it a very relaxing atmosphere and I'm so grateful for that since my contractions were anything but relaxing (iykyk)
I hadn't met midwife on duty at the hospital at any of my appts but I couldn't say I was a fan and luckily Dana was there to advocate/back me up since this midwife didn't have the best bedside manners.
after 27 hours my cervix had swelled from 9cm to 7cm and after waiting to see if the swelling would go down (it didn't) we prepped for a c section - Dana stayed for the c section even though we had to wait 3 hours longer and she captured so many beautiful photos of our brand new family and our beautiful baby girl!!
i genuinely believe that if it weren't for Dana my birth definitely would have traumatized me but being able to speak to her at postpartum visits helped me look at it without the trauma and appreciate the outcome/realize how tough I am from what I handled/went through during birth
I highly recommend Dana for your prenatal, labor, and postpartum support!! 10/10 doula!!!
