Kennedy was a lifesaver for us. Kennedy saw us before the birth and knew what we wanted and where we were at so she could support at home. During our contractions she stayed awake, helping us be able to sleep despite contractions. She applied heat packs, brought a tens machine for use, gave us movements to try, kept us hydrated, etc. When I called her in the morning she came without question which really helped validate us at a very vulnerable moment. She helped us get to our midwife when we went in for a check to see how the birth was going, and then was with us for the entire birth. She held my hand, helped take pictures, assisted the birth team, etc. She would think of ways to help us that we haven't even asked her to do and would do them. After the birth Kennedy was crucial for us in learning how to breastfeed. As first time parents we did not know about that amongst many other things. She helped us understand why kids fuss, what to do about the umbilical cord, ways to recover quickly, and more. When reflecting on the birth of our baby, we would say that she was one of the most important parts of the experience, and that it wouldn't have gone as smoothly without her.
