I write this while my first baby, my perfect little boy lays asleep on my chest. He and I had quite the journey to meeting in person. While overall a healthy pregnancy, there were many anxiety inducing moments from the beginning up until his eventful birth. I can't imagine going through any of it without Justine and Midwest Doulas. Between medical bills, baby supplies, it all adds up so quickly! But budgeting in a doula was one of the best decisions we made while prepping for our baby. When my scheduled c section due to a low laying cord turned into an emergency situation, Justine was there to keep me calm and talk me through those intense moments of anxiety when my baby was taken away to be attended to and I had yet a chance to see him. My husband went with our sweet boy and during what were the longest minutes of my life, while I was being put back together and hearing the cries of my baby who I had yet to meet, Justine's calming presence and guided breath work kept me grounded. While my husband was with our baby who was receiving medical care, I was not alone waiting for them to return, and that made all the difference. The compassion and knowledge that the wonderful women at Midwest Doulas possess is unmatched and we feel so fortunate to have found them for this journey.
