There aren't sufficient words to express my gratitude to Lynn. From the very first phone call, I sensed calmness, comfort & positivity from her voice. My favorite part about her process was going through my concerns, expectations & needs beforehand; this provided a better understanding for her & also allowed me to introspect & prepare myself mentally. We discussed ways to calm me through contractions. We also went over my own fears. Talking through those possibilities, Lynn reassured me that she would make sure I was as comfortable as possible. As someone with fibromyalgia & chronic fatigue, we discussed my need to conserve energy for pushing & thus, the need for an epidural. People think they don't encourage epidurals, but that's not true. Lynn helped me so much before I got my epidural & supported me 100%. She advised I slept once I got the pain relief, & that's what I did. During my 30+ labor, I took several naps & felt quite strong when the time to push came. Since this was my first pregnancy, Lynn helped me recognize labor pains as well. And once it was getting difficult she came over and helped me through the contractions with the double hip squeeze method, walking me around, whispering calming thoughts, reminding me to breathe. Once at the hospital, she helped me into different positions to push things along and guided us with all the medical jargon. Having her advocate for me strengthed my morale throughout. Last but not the least, Lynn is also a lactation consultant. She explained how to get a good latch beforehand, & helped us after the baby's birth & to-date guides me through my BF challenges. For a new mother, BF can be daunting & Lynn's knowledge equips one to learn this new skill. I could really go on & on about how helpful, supportive, knowledgeable & comforting Lynn is. In short, Lynn is all you could need in a Doula & so much more!
