Training offered

A two-day four-hour each day training exploring the surgical birth and how to build your doula practice around this growing trend in birthwork. Black women have the highest rates of surgical births than any other ethnic group WITHOUT the knowledge of how to navigate a VBAC. Surgical births need doula support. Black VBAC's need doulas who are trained and empowered with resources.

Summary of qualifications

Denise Bolds, MSW is also a Certified Birth Doula, Evidenced Based Birth Certified Childbirth Instructor, Certified Lactation Counselor. She is known as the 'High Risk' Birth Doula in NYC & Northern New Jersey. Denise has a birth doula practice of nine years and almost 300 births of experience in homes, birth centers and hospitals.

Style of teaching

Empowerment, Exploration, Engaging! I like to talk it out! I use Zoom to help move away from any childcare or travel barriers. I like Google slides to show you images rather than slide after slide of data. I like to show you the resources right in your community to support your doula practice. I love teaching and sharing what I know and what I experience as a Black birthworker.
