Birth Doula Training

Summary of qualifications

This 20 hour, weekend long workshop, trains and empowers the participants to become active and professional Birth Doulas. The training includes a deep look into the physiology of labor, the hormonal structure behind it, hospital/birthing center/home birth practices, advocacy skills, labor positions and counter pressure techniques, experiential learning exercises using real pregnant models, our custom designed segment on Racism, Reproductive Health and Equity in Birth: created and taught by a Doula of color and our unique session on The Business of Being a Doula: created and taught by a practicing and thriving TL Birth Doula. This intensive, comprehensive and well rounded curriculum prepares people to be the Best Doulas out there!

Style of teaching

ToLABOR is the longest running Birth Doula Training and Certifying Organization in the country. Beginning in 1977, as Informed Birth, it has evolved through the years, changing names including ALACE and now ToLABOR, and adding in new and different concepts, always following evidence based practices and heart led principles. ToLABOR is rooted in social justice, we believe that having compassion, education and support in every single birthing room is a civil right. We donate a portion of each training to a black owned birth business nationwide and offer one full scholarship seat to a BIPOC in each workshop.
