I offer a 2-day class that runs 10AM-4PM each day. Upon completion of my class, participants will be fully capable of working as a doula. They will also gain access to my private Facebook group where I provide 6 months of doula mentoring to help get your practice off the ground. There is no additional cost for this.
Summary of qualifications
Originally from Erie, PA, Kira Kimble is a Certified Doula, Doula Agency Owner, Doula Trainer, Mentor and founding member of the North Carolina Doula Organization and the National Black Doulas Association. She puts her years of doula experience to work when she trains aspiring doulas to become compassionate and effective doulas. As a trainer she uses her vast knowledge and body of experience to teach students about how to support families in a variety of settings including hospitals, birth centers and home birth environments. She also has experience in supporting VBAC, Plus Size Pregnancy, multiples, high risk and a variety of unmedicated and medicated birth scenarios. Prior to becoming a birthworker, Kira had a career in marketing at The Charlotte Observer, the Gaston Gazette and The Winston-Salem Journal. She graduated from Wake Forest University with a degree in business with concentrations in Business Law and Marketing. She also attended Phillips Academy in Andover, MA where she received a global education that inspired her love of languages. She studied Japanese and Spanish and currently provides doula support to families in both English and Spanish.
Style of teaching
My program is a good blend of heart and business. We also pay homage to the grand midwives who laid the foundation of today's modern midwifery. You learn the doula stuff, but you also walk away with business skills so you know how to attract clients and build a successful practice. In addition to my 2-day workshop, I provide 6 months of mentoring to my students. To enroll into one of my classes, please visit

I loved my training with Kira! She is knowledgable and willing to share anything that she knows. The class was fun, upbeat and interactive which I enjoyed becauase no one wants to be talked at for two days. The price is AMAZINGLY affordable compared to some other places that want to charge an arm and a leg. If you want to learn how to become the best doula ever sign up with Kira. You won't regret it :)

I was referred to Kira for doula training by a childhood friend who had recieved training through her. I contemplated when and if I'd get training and after the birth of my middle child, I felt a tugging in my spirit that my calling was in birth work. I went to training while pregnant with my youngest child. The class size and setting was very appropriate. Training materials were very thorough and easy to read and understand. The actual training was very hands on and informative. Overall the information was provided in a way that would be helpful for any learning style. I learned a wealth of information that even after years of being a mother and giving birth, I had no clue. The history of birth work was something that was insightful. It was a very interactive class setting with hands on demonstration and tools and supplies to see and understand their use. I left totally inspired and equipped. So much that I used her agency with my last pregnancy. The follow up support was unmatched. The information I gathered from the mentoring afterwards is not something often provided from examples of how to create contracts, marketing, and setting up the back office side of the business. I was offered opportunities to shadow experienced doulas on prenatal visits. Able to ask questions in real time with Kira being very responsive and detailed. Kira helps with feedback on logos, websites, and social media as well. There is no better training than getting feet wet by jumping on in but I can honestly say I am very prepared and knowledgeable about what a doula is and how to formulate and start my business.
