- Style of teaching
- This isn't just a "rock the baby while parent sleeps" postpartum doula training! We dive deep into topics that stretch and challenge us in new ways. We cover institutionalized racism and how that impacts maternal and infant health, and we dig into our own implicit bias as individuals to see how it might impact our clients and where our own inner growth needs to happen. We learn inclusive language and discuss how to cross cultures respectfully to work with families who have diverse and unique needs, along with practicing active-listening and trauma-informed communication skills. This training is highly interactive, with lots of opportunities for role-play, small group discussion, activities, and making connections with other participants, even in a virtual format. We need doulas and advocates in ALL communities. Our doula trainings are open to anyone who chooses to do this beautiful work regardless of race, sexual orientation, gender identity, ethnicity, or religion.
