Summary of qualifications

I’m a perinatal mental health therapist, psychotherapist, and co-founder of Mother Rising with extensive experience supporting pregnant and postpartum individuals through anxiety, depression, OCD, trauma, identity shifts, relationship stress, and the emotional realities of early parenthood. My work centers on perinatal mental health, community care, and helping families access support early and effectively. In addition to my clinical background, I work closely with mothers and birth workers in community settings, giving me a practical understanding of the unique role doulas play in noticing emotional changes, holding supportive space, and helping families connect to appropriate care. My training approach is trauma-informed, relational, and grounded in real-world maternal mental health concerns. I also bring experience in psychoeducation, group facilitation, and creating accessible trainings that help participants feel confident rather than overwhelmed. My goal is to help doulas better recognize signs of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, understand when something may need additional support, communicate concerns compassionately and ethically, and make informed referrals while staying within their scope of practice.

Style of teaching

My teaching style is warm, conversational, trauma-informed, and grounded in real-life experience rather than clinical jargon. I strive to teach in a way that helps participants feel capable, connected, and confident rather than intimidated. I blend practical education, storytelling, reflection, community wisdom, and emotionally attuned discussion to create interactive and meaningful learning experiences. My approach encourages participants to think critically, reflect on their own experiences, and strengthen their confidence while maintaining a clear understanding of ethical boundaries and scope of practice.
