Training offered

Meets all requirements for WA State Certification including: Doula Training, Childbirth Education Class, Lactation Class, and a Cultural Awareness Class. Taught by a Licensed Midwife, Certified Professional Midwife, WA ST Certified Doula (Prenatal, Birth, and Postpartum), Midwifery Instructor, Doula Trainer, Birth Assistant Trainer, Certified Childbirth Educator, Certified Lactation Educator, and Mom of two grown children with 30 years of experience in WA State. Guest Speakers TBA. Purchase of the doula training includes your choice amongst my yearly schedule of Childbirth Education Classes & Lactation Classes to be taken at anytime. These are optional classes if you are not wanting WA ST Certification and would like to take only the doula training portion. Total class time with all classes is approx 30 hours. Autumn Doula Training Dates are 10/3 Friday 6-9 pm, 10/4 & 10/5 Saturday and Sunday 11 am -6 pm

Style of teaching

I have called Olympia, Washington home since 1990 & have birthed both of my children here in this town. I enjoy how fulfilling it is to truly do a good day's work. To know that I have had a positive impact on a family and their baby's physical and emotional well-being gives me a warm heart. I began my birth career during my last two years of college in 1992. I became interested in birth & women's health & developed a passion for assisting families during this wonderous & challenging transition. After birthing my first child at home, I knew that birth was the place for my interest and knowledge to be utilized. I took the Seattle Midwifery School's Doula Training from Penny Simkin & became certified by PALS & DONA. I began to assist licensed midwives at home births, birth centers & in clinical offices. I became certified as a Childbirth Educator. I had assisted hundreds of families with lactation issues & nursed my own two children. It was time to become a Certified Lactation Educator in order to solidify my experience & knowledge. My Sibling Preparation Classes were a perfect answer to parent's questions & needs around siblings at birth & their transition to living with a newborn. As my oldest began heading to college & my youngest entered middle school I knew it was time to finally take the next step of my journey with birth. I enrolled in The National College of Midwifery. After 3 years of school & 16 yrs of apprenticeship prior I graduated 2014. In the last few years I have put my focus towards Doula Trainings with the goal of increasing the amount of highly trained doulas in our area. My business has grown through my wonderful past clients referring their family & friends, as well as professional referral from care providers. I am thankful that my passion has grown into a solid base of services capable of supporting a family during pregnancy, birth, & postpartum.
