Training offered

As a certified Doula Trainer for the National Black Doulas Association I provide Birth and Postpartum Doula trainings. All trainings are in-person in 1 of 3 formats: Weekend: Option 1- Friday, Saturday, Sunday – 8 hours each day. Option 2- Saturday and Sunday for 3 consecutive weekends – 4 hours each day. Week: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday - 4 hours each day.

Summary of qualifications

I have a long history of education with 25+ years of teaching experience. I have lead all ages and group sizes as a dance, yoga, and health instructor in studios, traditional school settings, training programs, and event workshops. In all of my work I have created my own curriculum and lesson plans. As a doula I have trained with 3 entities learning the full spectrum of doula care. I also have completed the following trainings that undergird my knowledge in maternal health: -Medical Assistant -Birth Assistant -Lactation Educator -Infant Care Specialist

Style of teaching

I love to learn and I love to share what I have learned...so I teach! My training in the performing arts is the foundation to my teaching. I believe learning should be exciting, engaging, and memorable. My goal is to intentionally share what I know in a creative fashion, attending to every style of learning through a variety of mediums and methods (videos, games, role play, hands on activities). By incorporating these methods in my lessons I believe students retain the information longer and find the skills to be more tangible that sitting and getting the information only from reading.
