- Hi, I’m Tayna Chessman and I’m so excited to invite you into this work. I became a doula when I started midwifery school. I wanted a way to stay connected to birthing people and still earn an income while living the on-call life. Since then, I’ve supported over 300 births and personally delivered 120 babies as part of my midwifery education. That means when you train with me, you're getting a full-circle perspective — one that comes from both a doula and a provider lens. It’s a well-rounded, deeply thoughtful approach to birthwork. When you sign up for my ProDoula Labor Doula Training, you’re not just learning how to support someone through labor. You’re also learning how to build meaningful client relationships and grow a sustainable business. That’s what makes ProDoula different — we focus on both the heart and the hustle. You’ll leave with tools for real-world support, real-life scenarios, and a certification that stands behind you long after class ends. ProDoula gives you structure, guidance, and ongoing mentorship — not just from me as your trainer, but from a team of people invested in your success. You’ll gain confidence in how to show up for clients and how to create a business that’s balanced, strong, and reflective of who you are. If your heart feels pulled toward birthwork, I would love to walk with you through this journey. You don’t need to know everything. You just need to begin.
- Summary of qualifications
- As a certified doula trainer with a full midwifery education, I bring a unique and in-depth perspective to doula training that goes far beyond the basics. I’ve attended over 300 births and personally delivered more than 120 babies during my time as a student midwife. This hands-on experience, paired with years of clinical education, allows me to train doulas with a deep understanding of both the physiology and the emotion of birth. In addition to my midwifery education, I’m certified in CPR and first aid, and trained in birth emergencies. I don’t just teach the mechanism of labor — I teach how to recognize, respond to, and confidently support clients through unexpected moments with calm and clarity. My learners walk away with practical tools, real-world insight, and the kind of knowledge that makes a real difference when it matters most. What sets me apart as a trainer is the depth of experience I offer. My perspective blends the medical with the intuitive, the science with the art of birth. Whether you’re brand new to this path or looking to grow your skill set, I’m here to guide you through your journey with warmth, honesty, and high standards. When you train with me through ProDoula, you’re not just checking a box. You’re investing in a training that’s backed by years of education, lived experience, and a commitment to excellence. I believe deeply in this work — and I’m here to help you step into it with knowledge, confidence, and heart.
- Style of teaching
- My teaching philosophy is as diverse as the learners I serve. I truly believe that every student brings their own personality, life experience, and learning style to the table — and that’s not something to work around, it’s something to honor and lean into. In my doula trainings, one of the core things we explore is how to support families with different personalities and communication styles. That starts right in the classroom. I teach with flexibility and responsiveness, and I believe learning should feel personal, not one-size-fits-all. Whether you’re bold and curious, quiet and thoughtful, hands-on or more reflective, I meet you where you are — and we build from there. This is a student-led space. That doesn’t mean you’re left on your own, it means you’re seen, heard, and supported at every step. My role is to walk alongside you, to challenge you when needed, and to hold space for you to grow with confidence. I bring patience, understanding, and a whole lot of heart to my trainings because I know this work is personal — and it deserves to be taught that way. My goal isn’t just to teach the content. It’s to help you see yourself in this work, and leave knowing you’re capable of holding space for others in a way that feels authentic to you.
