Milk Donation after Loss: A Legacy of Love

The option to donate milk is an often-overlooked aspect of perinatal bereavement care. Yet, mothers and families report great meaning in honoring their baby's legacy through bereavement milk donation. During this presentation, attendees will learn how non-profit milk banks support families through bereavement donation. Summer and Stephanie will share information about their milk bank bereavement programs, research on this topic, and family stories, with the hope to motivate providers to offer milk donation as a choice after perinatal loss. Each month of 2026, RTZ Hope and Jane’s Room will bring together clinicians, birthworkers, mental health providers, and community care teams for honest, evidence-informed conversations about pregnancy and infant loss. These sessions are designed to close the gaps in clinical training, build cross-disciplinary bridges, and equip providers with tools they can use the very next day.
