Her background in mental health counseling was prevelent during pre delivery visits, exploring how to meet individual needs during labor and address any and all possible birth outcomes. This significanly reduced my anxieties going into delivery. Then after delivery, she was so helpful in reviewing the birth and helping me process any lingering feelings of "oh that was a suprise" or "I wasn't prepared for that", leaving us with a positive and empowering birth memory.
During delivery, she worked seamlessly with the Swedish RN team and my OB team. She recognized when I was progressing MUCH faster than anticipated and advocated on our behalf for an early cervical check. "Surprise! Time to get out of the tub and push!"
As a healthcare professional myself, I particularly appreciated her background in anatomy when explaining positioning and the baby's movement during delivery. Then after delivery she reviewed the placenta with us in our home. This was an awesome full circle moment.
