Choosing to work with Kate and Jane as our birth doulas was one of, if not the best, decision that my partner and I made for the birth of our child. Right off the bat, both Kate and Jane were extremely helpful, knowledgable, and personable with our consult calls and prenatal visits. They were both quick to respond to texts and carefully answered all of my questions and provided resources to help with decision making and reassurance for all of my concerns. Additionally, Kate's class that is included was SO thorough and helpful! I also want to note that my partner and I decided to practice gender creative parenting with our child and use they/them pronouns - both Kate and Jane were incredibly supportive of this!
I had planned to have an unmedicated, out of hospital birth. However, due to some last minute complications, I had to transfer to UW Northwest. Kate was there for me every step of the way and helped provide recommendations for which hospital to transfer to. She also encouraged me with natural coping techniques and position changes, and supported me through my decision to change my initial birth plan and get an epidural. Kate stayed with us overnight in the hospital while I labored and was a tireless advocate for whatever I needed (additional meds, reminding the nurses of my birth plan, and even just turning off some of the annoying beeping machines in the room).
Although my labor did not follow my initial plan at all, I still felt safe and condifent in each decision that was made, and my labor was an incredibly positive experience in large part due to Kate and her advocacy and support. After the birth, Kate followed up both the day after and a few weeks after to ensure that our family was doing well. I am so glad that we had Kate with us during such a challenging and vulnerable time of my life and I would choose her and Jane again in a heartbeat. I would absolutely recommend Kate and Jane to anyone!
