Laurie was a phenomenal doula and we are so glad we had her in our corner when my partner gave birth to our first child.
Her preliminary meetings, counseling and exploratory questions allowed us to talk through what we wanted for our birth plan, what we wanted for our less-than-ideal birth plan, and what was most important throughout the process. These upfront conversations really helped put my and my partner’s mind at ease, knowing we’ve talked through the possible scenarios and discussed what we want with each other (and ourselves).
Her unwavering support and calming presence (even napping with us in the birthing suite at 1AM after we decided to move forward with an epidural) empowered us to make informed decisions through the 24 hour labor and accompanying exhaustion.
Laurie’s postpartum support was just as invaluable for us, providing tips, insight, and generally being there for the sometimes off-the-wall questions we had as first time parents.
