From our first meeting, Kate spoke confidently and knowledgeably about the stages of labor and my choices during birth. I called her, freaking out, the day before my induction date and Kate helped me process my emotions and talk me through my options. She set me up for success before entering the hospital with support and guidance in a way that no one else could.
During labor, Kate was a tremendous help to both my husband and I as we navigated over 40 hours of labor and various interventions. She set a very relaxing vibe in my L&D room with lavender and lights, making my medically-anxious self feel calmer in the hospital setting. She supported me through hours of unmedicated contractions, expertly applying counter pressure and helping me through different positions. Kate was a huge asset when it came to communicating with nurses and doctors. Through the many shift changes, I knew that Kate was keeping track of my health and well-being and she gave me the confidence to ask questions when I wanted more information. She helped me know when it was time to get an epidural and helped me breathe through the anxiety of having it take effect in my body.
Also, Kate made labor more fun! We shared many laughs and jokes during the downtime and she told stories to help distract me when I needed it. Lastly, she took excellent photos of my delivery that I will cherish forever!
Kate is amazing!! Everyone should have her as their doula!
