From the beginning of pregnancy I was decided on a natural birth center birth and had an idea what that looked like for us. What I didn’t see was having a doula there to support me. I hadn’t made the decision to hire a doula until last minute, at about 35 weeks. I chatted with three doulas and easily knew Dasha be the one. It was meant to be as she was booked that month and the other births came early, so Dasha accepted to be my doula even with a full schedule. I am so grateful for that.
When my water broke, she had good advice for reaching out to the midwives and what to do next. She checked in with me regularly until it was go time. During labor and birth, it was amazing to have her in our corner supporting. She always had new positions and tools to try to keep me moving and was very hands on which I appreciated. She helped direct me and my partner even when contractions were so much I could barely think. Her positivity, support, and motivation kept me going. I had the most beautiful birth I could have ever imagined and I’m extremely happy to have had Dasha be apart of my birth team and for her to have captured pictures of that moment.
If you are thinking about hiring a doula, do it! And if you are considering Dasha, you’ll have no regrets with her on your team! She’s supportive, knowledgeable, and caring throughout each phase of pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.
