Maria was absolutely wonderful & such an indispensable part of our labor team. My husband & mother agree that we felt her confidence was contagious & we found this to be especially helpful within a hospital setting in comparison with our past births. We’d previously felt information we’d been given during my labor process was incomplete or selective. Maria’s experience & knowledge base gave us an opportunity to question things that conflicted with our birth plan as well as reinforce ideas we had. We discussed everything together and collaborated with the doctors & nurses much more effectively & calmly with her there. She was concise, thoughtful & proactive in her craft. I didn’t feel I could control what my body was doing but I did feel in charge of my care much more than I had the past & Maria helped very much with this. Her presence was personalized, nurturing, calm and helped us feel more comfortable during such a vulnerable time. My husband & I joked after it was all over that we missed her once we were home because she felt like part of our family & we’d gotten so used to her being with us after our long labor. We will definitely be recommending her to friends & family in the future.
