Kay was a fabulous doula for our family. She's attentive, caring, and also has a great sense of humor that shines through at the perfect moments. I wanted a home birth with no intervention and due to complications during labor, we needed to do a hospital transfer. Even before the hospital transfer I was pretty overcome with how intense labor was and Kay was a steady guiding hand through the entire experience, helping me stay focused and as calm as possible. With the hospital transfer I was able to stay mentally afloat and cope with the disappointment, with the help of Kay. In the end I was able to have a very low intervention birth which was pretty incredible considering the complications we faced. I believe with absolute certainty that I would have had a C-section if Kay was not there, she helped guide my husband and I and kept us grounded in moments of fear and uncertainty. Not only was she emotional support for me, but she was also a great help to my husband as well which kept us connected to each other and able to ride the waves of the labor. She also helped advocate for me when interventions were being offered and sometimes pushed. I am forever grateful to Kay for helping me have the closest thing possible to the birth I wanted for my baby and I given the challenging circumstances.
