I contacted Chelsey with Doulightful Beginnings Birthcare at 30 weeks pregnant with my first child after weeks of debating whether or not a doula was really necessary. Best decision ever. Chelsey has been a God-send! After our initial consult I knew that she was the right fit to help us welcome our little one into the world. I was looking for someone to be an advocate for me in the hospital setting. Becoming a brand new mom, I was overwhelmed with all of the decisions to be made and did not want to feel pressured to go along with suggestions made by my OB or the hospital just because it was the norm. With Chelsey’s help, my husband and I worked out a birth plan tailored to our specifications. Chelsey was a wealth of knowledge about the birthing process; she provided resources on any aspect of birth we had questions about. I decided I wanted a medication-free vaginal birth. Because Chelsey was there, I was empowered to make that happen. Throughout labor she was an encourager and cheerleader. It made such a big difference! We welcomed our baby boy a couple weeks earlier than expected, and Chelsey was there every step of the way. After delivery she checked in with us often, even making a trip to our house. I’m so thankful for Chelsey and feel like God put her right in our path.
