We were lucky to have Jill support us through the pregnancy and birth of our second baby. I knew I wanted to find a doula that had experience with unmedicated childbirth, mainly because my first experience was heavily medicated and I wanted to try it differently the second time around. It was for this same reason that I was glad to learn she has experience in many forms of labor and birth, in case anything were to change along the way.
After our first meeting, I was confident that she could support me through the insecurities and fears that I personally developed from my first labor and birth experience. She helped me to create several variations of my birth preferences list, in the case of a hospital transfer/cesarean.
The amount of knowledge, experience, and compassion Jill brought to us was more than I could have expected. Even though it was my second pregnancy, I didn’t really know how to go about preparing for the mentality needed for my desired labor and birth experience. I found Jill at the beginning of my pregnancy and was able to start receiving her support early on, and throughout the majority of my pregnancy (I highly recommend this!) All the while, providing me with incredible resources and expertise. She always answered my questions and reassured me with open arms.
I never felt judgment or persuasion about anything along the way. Her knowledge on pain management/comfort measures really set her apart. Jill approached me with warmth, confidence, and stability at the time I needed it most during my daughter’s birth. She is intuitive, and knew what I needed in that moment. That makes all the difference in truly feeling supported during such a vulnerable time in a woman’s journey to motherhood. I cannot recommend Jill Pullen as your doula enough!
