I highly recommend choosing Dana as your doula! Dana made my pregnancy, birth and postpartum experience - such major moments in my life - feel positive and supported. Dana is responsive and keeps her word. She is non-judgmental; my husband and I felt we could be ourselves and at ease around her. She has good social skills, checking in with appropriate frequency and building good rapport with hospital staff. She has strong cultural competency, showing curiosity and kindness about our traditions and preferences. Dana was there for me every step of the journey and made me feel empowered in my decisions. During prenatal sessions, she explained what would happen in my body during birth, which made me feel as prepared as possible and paid off when time to push! The ceremony at the end of pregnancy made me feel connected to my husband and grounded in my emotions. During labor, Dana timed her arrival at the hospital perfectly, showing up when I needed a boost of energy and comfort (and supported me via phone before then). She created a beautiful ambience over night with lights, scents and music. During the worst contractions, she stood by my side applying counter pressure, working as a great team with my husband. Dana translated information from doctors and discussed choices we had to make, always supporting me to do whatever felt best to me. When I decided to get an epidural after 36 hours of labor, she held my hand while they inserted it. She held my leg during pushing and created a fun environment with the medical team. She even took our first pictures as a family after our baby was born. We looked forward to Dana’s postpartum visits. She brought great energy, and we loved knowing we could hand her the baby and not worry about a thing. She provided him with gentle loving care, answered all my questions, and helped with whatever I needed. She was even so kind to our dog and cat! Dana is a fantastic doula and now feels like a friend.
