Shamika not only helped us before the birth, she was there during and after to offer advice, exercises to help make labor easier, calmer and a memorable experience. She guided my husband and I so that he could help me during labor until Shamika arrived. While in labor Shamika acted as an advocate for me, especially when she knew my wishes were not being respected. She had my birth plan and worked with the doctors and staff to ensure my rights and desires were respected. After, Shamika was vital in helping guide me to nurse in the hospital. I had a difficult time and the lactation consultants didn't teach us until two days after labor. Shamika was there to help me harvest colostrum so my daughter had enough. Shamika also recommended diatary options for before and after labor and delivery to ensure I was at peace health during my recovery process. We were very blessed to have Shamika as a doula.
