This was my first pregnancy and my top priority was to have a non traumatic birthing experience. After interviewing several top rated doulas, I decided that Tanya would be the best fit for my husband and I. Her prenatal visits were very useful and prepped me mentally for the big day as a first time mom! I was able to reach out to her via text every single time I had a doubt or if something was going on after 37weeks. On the big day, my contractions started pretty strong and Tanya came over right away with her Tens unit, which helped me a lot to navigate through the pain of each contraction. She met me at home at my request as I began early labor and right away started guiding me through the techniques to overcome the contractions. With her constant support and encouragement, I was able to labor at home till I was 5cm dilated. I strongly believe that the success of this stage of labor was a huge factor in my birthing experience being non traumatic! I arrived at the hospital being 5 cm dilated. Tanya stood by me through each contraction and also advocated for my birth plan! She also supported my husband and also knew the key moments during which to give us a few moments alone for ourselves during labor; that was very special and much needed. Mine was an unmedicated birth and I don’t think I could have survived it without her help. Unexpectedly, I had postpartum hemorrhage. With so many nurses and doctors surrounding me, I was a little overwhelmed. However, Tanya stood by my side the whole time. While my husband took care of the baby, and the medical professionals working on my hemorrhage, Tanya kept reassuring that everything is to be okay. Her presence and support gave me so much comfort and courage in that vulnerable moment! To all my dear ladies who are looking for a doula to support you, I highly recommend Tanya for her incredible knowledge, kindness and advocacy!
