Testimonial for Sarah Fielding
We are so grateful to have hired Sarah Fielding as our Doula for our second child. Our experience last time was very different because of covid, but we still really liked my birth and soon connected with Sarah during Doula interviews. From the beginning, Sarah was professional and available for support. One night I had severe Braxton Hicks for 7 hours and she walked us through the process helping us know that it was not full labor based on what was going on. For our son. We had gone into the hospital too early ending with a cesarean after 43 hours, so I do think her support saved us from a repeat of that experience. During the birth process, she set up a full ambiance to the laboring room. It made a world of difference for me and was so comforting hearing comments from the staff about how much they loved the ambience from the twinkle lighting to the projectors and the wonderful clove scent. While laboring, Sarah was with me every step of the way along side my dear husband. Sarah provided the perfect amount of distraction and awareness. This knowledge of what was happening but also distraction from the pain was the biggest wish I had after the experience with my first birth of my son 4.5 years ago. After 18 hours labor, I was able to have a successful VBAC with Sarah's help! She got a video of the moment my daughter was born which to me is a complete treasure to know what I was able to do. The moment felt quite surreal. I feel so empowered and grateful in so many ways for the entire experience. Sarah is highly recommended and highly regarded by lots of the staff at VCU. I feel tremendously blessed to have had Sarah as my doula. We are so deeply grateful this holiday season with our our healthy, beautiful baby girl. Without Sarah I know I would not be feeling so deeply blessed, empowered, and at peace with our successful birth experience!
