We initially hired Kristina for a vaginal delivery, but as my due date approached, it became clear we'd need a planned cesarean. At 37 weeks, she came to our home, answered all our questions, and helped us feel prepared for both spontaneous labor and the shift in our plan. She spent almost three hours walking us through scenarios, demonstrating pain-relief techniques, and chatting about our shared love of dahlias and cats. By the time we reached the scheduled cesarean, Kristina felt like an old friend, and we were incredibly grateful.
Although Kristina couldn’t be in the operating room, she made a huge impact in other ways. She kept us calm during the long wait, dimming the lights and offering a steady presence. She was there through nursing shift changes, helping my husband be the best birth partner, laughing at his “dad jokes” to lighten the mood. Kristina took beautiful photos and went above and beyond assisting with the post surgery skin-to-skin and the initial breastfeeding latch. She even brought us food while we waited in recovery, starving after the adrenaline wore off.
Her support didn’t end there—when I developed hives from the procedure, Kristina checked in regularly, offering reassurance and advice through recovery. She made the entire experience smoother and more positive. I can’t recommend Kristina enough—she went above and beyond, truly making my birth journey more meaningful.
