As a first time mom, I was nervous and clueless about birth and how to handle a newborn. Elizabeth was both my birth and postpartum doula and she helped me achieve the exact birth experience that I wanted as well as (dare I say...) a newborn stage I actually enjoyed! I will always look back on my labor & postpartum experience with happiness because I felt so supported by Elizabeth and her team.
Elizabeth took away all the anxieties I had about labor and birth by talking me through my worries on FaceTime calls, texts, and in-person visits. My husband and I also took the "Empowered Hospital Birth Intensive" course at Looma studio, which was 10x more informative than the free virtual one I did through my hospital. I especially appreciated that the class emphasized how to advocate for yourself at the hospital -- something I hadn't even considered that I could do. Elizabeth was constantly checking in on me through my second and third trimester, which really helped me to confront the fact that I was going to have to give birth! By the time I approached 40 weeks I was fully ready and actually felt excited and relaxed about giving birth (Something I couldn't fathom feeling prior to Elizabeth!). My birth ended up being exactly what I had written for my birth preferences -- Elizabeth helped encourage me through some intense contractions while I was at home and at the hospital, she was by my side until my sweet baby girl was born!
In our first week home from the hospital, Elizabeth sprung into action to help me with breastfeeding. Without her help I definitely would have struggled with supply since I had to use formula the first couple weeks due to my baby's jaundice. She was also so responsive with any questions I had and it was great to have someone experienced to turn to rather than spiraling on Google.
